I fell asleep, while driving a M-557 down the Autobahn during Reforger 84. The Lt dozed off up in the TC hatch before I did. When I awoke, the track had drifted right and the left track was almost off the road surface and onto the emergency siding lane. I immediately pulled back hard on the left lateral. The track jerked around a bit, but got back onto the road pretty quickly. By the time the Lt woke and looked up, it appeared as nothing happened, The Lt asked me what was going on, and I told him that I was about to fall asleep, so I jerked the track around to keep myself awake. He never knew any different,

Siphon76 Well, from what I've heard from Deviled Eggs stationed in 58 Palm Trees, Molten Crayons are the number one energy supplement for MARSOC CSOs, Force Reconnaissance Companies, and Battalion Reconnaissancemen, the Crayons supposedly give supernatural abilities to Marines such as enhanced reflexes and actual Leather forming around their necks, Chesty Puller supposedly was one of the first Marines to advocate the issuing of Crayons during the Pacific Theater of WWII, same reason why Canadians from CANSOFCOM inject liquidated Maple Leaves into their bodies in honor of the 1st SSF, known as the Devil's Brigade. I know this from a friend who heard from his friend who heard from his cousin who heard from his uncle who heard from his grandfather.

Source Hydration was the first and still is the best thought out hydration bladder. The wide mouth is super useful for fast refill, dumping ice and most important the cleaning part. The bite valves are most leak proof, durable and ergonomic too. And unlike many bladders, Source uses stink proof material for their bladders.

I definitely second the Source packs. I'm running their 1 litre pack in a side mounted pouch. works great with a pack on. I bought a few of them so when i run out in one i just quickly swap in another. That QD tube is just about the best feature. as for people who don't like the "not bite valve" they sell a bite valve you can easily change.

Canteens rule : 1. They are cheaper. 2. They are easier to clean 3. They are easier to fill. 4. You can use them to purify water. 5. You can toss one to a buddy who needs water. 6. You can use it to flush wounds. 7. You can give an empty to a buddy who is going to fill canteens for the squad. 8. Less parts susceptible to break down.

Was curious about the IcePlate for keeping warm fluid on your body, good input. Could be real good for hypothermia prevention in trauma situations, especially in cold weather in addition to readyheat blankets. Greetings from a Ranger Medic in training at the Swedish Army Ranger Battalion, by the way. Your videos have helped me piece together my kit better since my selection phase/basic Ranger training is over.
@andrewrowley5118
@andrewrowley5118 7 жыл бұрын
Klobbson, you're spot on man. In the situation where you don't have a ready heat or something along those lines the IcePlate is an excellent option. Even with the ready heat, the IcePlate would be great to gain better coverage. Obviously that being said it does have to have warm/hot water in it to actually exchange heat. The IcePlate would do fantastic with a blizzard blanket, HPMK, helios etc. If you wrap the patient, and then place a hot water filled IcePlate on their core, you would get both the conductive and convective benefit to the patient. In the setting where you don't have a blizzard blanket or other wrap, you can keep their vest on them and slide the plate between the vest and their shirt to at least lessen or pause the effects of hypothermia. The other benefit with this device, as that as it transfers energy (heat) to the patient, the contact with the patient will allow the plate to stay warm longer and then theoretically not drop below the temperature of their skin. While you will certainly be reassessing the patient, for a period of time this is a fire and forget form of active and/or passive warming (depending on who you talk to) with the warm water fill. If the patient is able, and the water is not too hot, it is also a way to keep the patient hydrated.

Already following you on instagram, but will absolutely check your website out. Might pull some strings and see if I can get a few of these on try-out here in Sweden. Could potentially be a really sweet way to keep your water liquid during winter on top of its use as a medical tool.

Geigerrig/Aquamira is my favourite pack so far, pressurized so you don't have to suck it out of the hydration tube. This also makes it easy to use for cleaning dirt off of stuff, or sharing water/filling a bottle for someone else. Comes in many variations and sizes, tough, never had leaking issue in the several years I've used mine.

I'm a huge fan of and own several different models of tactical Camelbaks. Different sizes depending if I am going out for an extended amount of time or just standing a sentry watch. All of Camelbak's tactical bladders have neoprene tube covers and bite valve covers. You are also able to get universal fill attachments that allow you to fill the bladder without removing the pack or carrier. One thing I have found when filling them, and this will work with all similar systems: fill the bladder first then pack what you need. The bladder will compress as you drink from it. When you refill the bladder using a fill attachment it will fill up without any problems. I won't be getting rid of my packs anytime soon but the next time I replace a bladder I will definitely look into seeing if MSR has one to fit. Thanks, and Great Videos.

the "cover" for the tube or "hose" of hydration bladders is made of neoprene. it's not just for "camouflage" or prevents "heating up" if exposed under the sun, it also prevents the water in the tube from turning into ice in freezing weather.

A soldier introduced me to water bladders; such a great idea! I purchased four Camelbacks, but in the future wouldn't, for the following reasons: 1. They don't come with a water cut-off valve; you have to buy it separately, and if you don't, look forward to high likelihood of your water leaking out the end of the tubing; 2. the reservoir "cap" often doesn't close effectively, and so if your pack is titled ever so slightly, you lose ALL your water from the bladder! This has happened often enough, I can't consider it an outlier! It's a life threatening defect! To mitigate, make sure bladder is well secured in pack, so remains as straight as possible, running hose through top vent. Another KZbin channel recommends using Vaseline to create a better seal; this sounds like a great idea; I've not tried it yet. The other options that Garand presented don't seem to have the cap that Camelback does, and that's a good thing. You will pay more for these solutions, however, but note that even Camelbak isn't inexpensive, and so for a few dollars more, you'd get a product that's less likely to leak out the vital water you need to stay alive!

I'm a campus police officer, we do a lot more "walking around" compared to other agencies in my state. I just got the IcePlate, and next work day I'm going to try it under the outer vest that we wear. I keep a reflective vest tucked in the back of the outer vest, so I can't really wear it under the back side, but I'll see how it feels on the front. We have to maintain a somewhat dress uniform appearance, so I can't really wear a camel back over my back. I've been carrying a bottle of water in my cargo pants pocket, but that looks crappy, and its uncomfortable sloshing around in there all day. So, point: thanks for the review.

In sweden we have a company called snigeldesign, that is one of the main provider of tactical equipment for the military and police, they have designed a dump pouch that has velcrotabs at the bottom which allows you to attach it to the back of a plate carrier and has a zipper closure at the top, which makes it a great hydration pouch even when you are carrying a backpack.

So glad this was made. Ran drills all Saturday in the sun and had been looking for a good plate carrier attachable hydration system. Didn't have one for that training and ended up with a massive headache and threw up at the end of the day.... Not fun. Canteen ain't cutting it and my Camelback doesn't feel right over my shoulder straps

Have you ever used a GeigerRig? They are pretty slick kit, they can be pressurized too and have an added bonus of having an accompanying filter that can be used. Downside is that they do not have any molle style attachment system.

Im a Source fan. Back in 2007 I fell down a good chuck go a mountain in the Stan and while my Source gouged pretty bad, it didn't break or leak ever! Camelbak has popped on me at least a handful of times.

my 1.5l Camel back will mount under carrier, with it's own system, or over carrier, (molle) as well as on the back of a pack. All depends on the environment. If you need to move fast, often, don't put a camel back under your carrier. Carrier will move around too much. (host of problems there) Mount it on the back, where it isn't as noticeable. Particularly in the bush. Lots of cover, lots of movement. Not to mention, in the bush/jungle, there will be a lot more water. Arid theater, maybe put it under for pressure, and protection thereof? Have to suppose you won't be blazing the trails out in the sandbox, like we do in the more temperate theaters.

250K Subscriber Helicon give away. I liked the part where, as you were sitting in your hammock, you were talking about happiness. That got me reflecting that when I was where I wanted to be; was with who I wanted to be with; and doing what I wanted, then I was happy. I was astonished the fish were biting that little piece of paracord. I went out and got some.

Should be noted that Source makes a hydration pack that can be converted from a standalone pack similar to the CamelBak shown in the video to mounting on the back of a plate carrier, so it's a bit of a hybrid of the two types of hydration systems.

A way to avoid water freezing in the line is to blow it back into the carrier. A clear line reduces the chance of freezing unless it gets so cold the carrier freezes.

Camelbak mil spec crux is the best! The one in this video was civilian model, not as good nearly... i own 1,5l and 3l lumbar reservoir. 1,5 for smaller bags and the 3l for bigger ones. Also own the 4l dromedary bag, thats the most tough one, but i use it for now only as water storage not as bladder. I wish camelbak would make 2 liter mil spec bladder, i found that to be the sweet spot. Enough for allmost everything but not too much. That being said you can overfill that 1,5 l bladder with like 0,2-0,3 liters so its allmost a two liter bladder.

What kind of durability can I expect from some of these hydration carriers when it comes to penetration or popping of the internal bladder? I don't expect bullet proof pouches, but if I get knocked back on my ass, am I going to loose my water supply? That rigid piece you showed first is interesting for sure, but does it cause any sort of increased risk for back injury in a fall or hard impact? More-so than what a normal plate would cause, of course.
