Nice! It would be great to hear bass EQ tweaking in context with a full band track.

Good idea!

With drum we raise the Q really high narrowing the band width....then sweep the spectrum looking for the "wobbles"....adjust the bandwidth the go minus 15 to eliminate the wobbles from the mix.

Another great lesson. I play with both fingers and pick. If I wanted to use an eq pedal to make the switching more “natural”, would it make more sense to boost a couple dB at 2K fingerstyle? Or cut a little at 2K to take pick attack away? Or do nothing and let it be what it is? Thx

Well, it depends. If you’re playing live i’d just try to talk to front of house first and tell them that you’re switching between both. It also depends on the type of music you are playing and the other instruments in the band. A pick is naturally going to “cut through” a bit better than fingers, but lack some low end, so I’d probably have an EQ pedal to give me a bit of a bass boost maybe

IvanBassist. I do use both pickups on full for picking and roll off the neck for fingers. That does give me a little more bass when picking. I appreciated your thoughts and look forward to more videos!

I play in a punk rock band and I always boost arround 2k and a bit at 3k to make the attack even more agressive

Hi Ivan, Im from Brazil, sorry for my english. Great video, I'm studying more about frequencies and Eq. I noticed that somes PreAmp pedals works in 40 Hz bass frequency, like Aguillar, now It's commom see on 60 Hz or 80 Hz. The SansAmp, for example have both frequencys to choose. Can you explain what's the difference? is there a better one? or depends. If is so much to answer typing please make a video about it. Avid to the answer. thanks!

Hi Julio! Thanks for watching :) Boosting at those two different frequencies will have a different effect on the sound and how the bass sounds like in a mix. Boosting at 60hz compared to 40 might (not always) make the bass fit better with the kick drum. The Aguilar ToneHammer is a great preamp by the way
