Bass fishing at Midmar Dam, South Africa (Nov 2020) - Almost a new PB!!

We had another attempt at bass fishing at Midmar Dam but this time we decided to get some expert advice in the form of Tiaan from SA Bass Fishing Tours. And it really paid off.
He took us around to some of the spots he thought would work and we consequently had a fantastic day. Not only did we catch dozens of bass but we also got to see parts of the Midmar Dam that wasn't accessible to us before.
And added to that Linky almost broke her PB by catching a 3.8kg bass...

Thanks Thomas 😃 But we also blank often, it all just depends on the day and the venue. Last week we almost blanked at Rietvlei, but this weekend we went to Middelburg and caught about 70 bass in no time. So it just depends. Where do you go and what do you use? We'd be happy to help if we can...

Midmar has a lot of quality bass. I've fished here quite a lot over the years and heard stories of monsters being caught. Awesome video : )

Thanks a lot Christian. Yeah, we were actually heading to Albert Falls for a monster that day but we were persuaded to rather try Midmar. So glad we listened to the experts, it was a great day. And yes, we think there are some massive fish that lurk in those waters...

We still struggle often, sometimes they just don't bite, and we learn something new everytime we go. But when things are tough that's when you learn the most, because you try new things. So it's not a completely bad thing 😀

What's some of yols go to lures and rigs

Our goto lure has to be a dark fluke, weightless. That just straight out catches fish wherever we go. We also often throw senkos and creature baits like craws and lizards. We've also had lots of success on topwater frogs like horny toads, and we always have a white and chartreuse spinner bait rigged and ready.
