It happens to the best of us. I didn’t do as well in the tournament. It was a different bite, got 2 right off the bat then didn’t get a bite until around noon. Thanks for the comment!

Hey Richard....which ramp/s would you recommend launching out of if I'll be fishing/paddling all day out of a kayak (no motor)? Is there one where the boat traffic is less that the others? I don't mike paddling miles throughout the day, but don't really want to have to paddle miles to get to a decent area to start. Any info would help as I've never fished the lake and may go out next week since the winds will be super light. Thanks a bunch!

I’ve always launched out of marjorie Rawlings boat ramp. There’s plenty of places you can fish and catch bass coming out of the canal. There is a good amount of boat traffic though. I’ve caught a lot of fish going to the right side when coming out of the canal. There are lots of pads to fish and also plenty of hydrilla. There is another ramp on the south west side of the lake (Heagy-Burry). I’ve never been over that way but I’m sure there’s less boats coming out of that ramp. Marjorie Rawlings ramp can fill up pretty quickly. Even with all the extra boats, I’ve never had any issues with dealing with boat traffic. I wish I could help more. Good luck on your trip out there. Orange Lake has some Giants in it!

@@richardwhitefishing Thanks man for that advice!! How "topped out" with grass is Orange Lake currently, do you know? I'm so clueless how to attack a lake when I get to it and the whole thing is just a grass mat....I'm from Maryland/Virginia so I have zero experience fishing that stuff.....docks, weedlines, wood, rock, lilly pads....I'm pretty good at, but the topped out stuff just mentally kills me as soon as I see it. I live in Jacksonville and struggle to find decent/consistent bodies of water that aren't 2+ hours away....I shoulda put more effort into picking what city in Florida I wanted to move to haha.

It’s not the worst I’ve seen in Florida but the lake does have a lot of grass. You can definitely still get around. It may not be as thick since it’s cooled down a bit. You can still do well fishing the bank around the pads and reeds. If the grass is matted up bad, I will flip it with a tungsten weight and try to hit any holes I can find in the grass. My favorite baits to catch them in the grass would be burning a lipless over top of it, throwing a chatter bait, or dragging a Texas rigged worm through it. Also, you can usually find fish on any outside grass line. That’s usually the baits I will start off with when breaking down a lake with grass. I live in Orange Park. Fishing isn’t as good as it is down south but there are a few decent lakes around. If you haven’t been, try checking out Lake Sampson, Rodman Reservoir, and Lake Sante Fe. Those are my go to lakes here in North Florida.

Good job out there! Looks like you have them dialed in! What kind of chatterbait are you using? And trailer?
@richardwhitefishing Жыл бұрын
I was using the original chatterbait in a bluegill color with a strike king rage swimmer as the trailer. It seemed to work well out there. Thanks for the comment!
