Nice work! We just had a good week at DCL...check out my toothy critter beatdown vid...pickerel to 26 inches was my new PB on 8-14-18. Lots of 22 to 27 in northerns and a few nice smallies at the state park. Keep fishing!

Fellow WV here, new to fly fishing and have a 5wt rod. I want a bigger rod for large/smallmouth. I looked at 7-8 wt. I see you have an 8 in this vid but would you buy an 8 again or think the 7 would be better? Any brands you'd recommend under $400/rod?

Jon Miller an 8wt is a great multipurpose rod. I fish it for bass, carp, Pike, and even trout. If I had to pick between a 7 or 8 I would go with and 8. Plus most 8wts are built with saltwater components Incase you ever want to try some salt water/ surf fishing on the fly. There are plenty of options for under $400. I just got a new Redington predator last year and really like it.

BlueLineAngler thanks so much! I looked at Redington vice and tfo axiom 2 so far. But being on the western side of the state there aren’t many fly shop options to test rods

Jon Miller TFO makes a good rod too. Both Redington and TFO have lifetime warranties so you can go wrong.
