I bought the same year model, and after fishing it for a while decided I needed to do this as well. I've kinda been scared to tackle it, but after watching your video, I'm in! By the way, it looks great and seems as though it serves its purpose for storage and extension.

I see you recessed your trolling motor pedal. Did you have any trouble doing it? Also like the deck extension. I have a heritage, which is the same layout. Thanks for sharing.

@@reelt.v.2770 I looked for a fold down bench seat but could not find one. I build a step, put a couple of cup holders in it, and left the front bottom open so I could store my throw cushion under in. I think it will work nicely.

How hard would it be to take out? If I were to sell mine and they didn’t want the extension. Also is there anything for the classic xl yet to mount lights on to like a gunnel track?

Mine I could literally just lift it out if I wanted to sell it pretty simple. I built it with just that in mind. And I’m not too sure on your second question man but I’m sure there is something out there!

@@Mdmsr honestly when Installed my trolling Motor I was a little pissed because I seen there was nothing under there and I could’ve easily installed that tray. Plus they did it a little crooked and not even a clean cut. I’m sure you would have no problem installing!

@@reelt.v.2770 Completed install on 25 June; found need to cut the hole to access the nutz & bolts securing the Edge to the bow. So I now have a MK Maxxum 55lb and the recessed pan! Participated in fishing tournament this last weekend, all worked great! And you are correct, plenty of room for it; didn't have to remove buoyant material. I will build the extension this weekend.

What gauge aluminum did you use?

I honestly don’t know man. I went to lowes and got the pre cut ones. But for the middle I did go a little thicker

Some people prefer flat bottom and the money I would’ve have to spend to get that boat I have in my electronics. Everyone has their opinions

@@reelt.v.2770 yeah I get it but if your looking for storage you don’t buy the boat with the least of it and a 170 or 175 is only 75$ difference roughly idk just see a lot of guys adding it when it makes more sense to just buy it looks good anyway good luck keep fishing in a finance situation and I didn’t realize they were flat thought they all had the v hull

Good job bro, thanks for showing all ya did. I am not so good at doors it’s what’s holding my back to start it. And congratulations on the boat we have the 2019 classic best boat we ever had. And we got outs 13K out the door with 500 down it’s a ton cheaper then all the others and the flat bottom we kill it flounder fishing.

I was using a piano hinge at first and it was just not happening couldn’t hold it then I put the door on backwards lol do trust me when I say it’s trial by error but man when you step back and look at it complete knowing you did it ! Greatest feeling
