I love that section with Peter starting at 11:11, it's so surprising. The modulation creates not just musical dissonance but emotional dissonance with the subject of the song, which goes to further an uncomfortable feeling that feels very appropriate for the music. Very cool and unique arrangement. Thanks for the analysis!
@bass2yang2 жыл бұрын
That's so true - thank you for sharing your insight! I agree, the dissonance here is very well done.

I love this type of deep analysis, not really many on yt, I know only You and Peter and David Larson on beatbox and extended techniques. I was thinking I should do it as well, I know a something about singing, harmony. So why not

Happy birthday!! I wish I could’ve heard the keyboard, but anyway, great analysis. I don’t usually like this song-too depressing and too repetitive, but Tomi’s use of dissonance and key changes, plus all the vocal thunder make it so much more interesting (still depressing, but what can you do). Great reaction!!

Thanks! I tried to do this live right after the premiere at 2pm but messed up all the audio except for my mic (OBS didn't patch anything through even though it all came through in the headphones. To salvage the reaction, I spent quite a but of time to at least get the audio spliced and overlay it in the video (you can hear parts where there was no overlay). Haha. Better luck next time for me lol. I'll do a test run next time for sure before hitting that record button. Thank you!

Such a great video, i saved it to watch later after university today, so, late Happy Birthday Thou! You're one of the greatest inspirations for all aspiring Bass singers and general Bass lovers so thank you once again, keep doing what you're doing, you've offered some exceptional help and advice regarding almost anything in the vocal world. Also, these Analysis videos are some of my favourite, more unfiltered plus the insight of a music teacher, what more to ask for.

I've seen quite a few vids of yours, swore I subbed before... well resubbed in case it fell off, but I would have subbed automatically for the Chrono Trigger overworld background under the keyboard. And happy belated birthday!

Elliott's D1 was chest voice too, just to let you know
@bass2yang2 жыл бұрын
Yes, most definitely! For this reaction, I was mostly focused on the music part of it rather than their approach to technique. Thanks for the assist!
@YtprophetWZ2 жыл бұрын
@@bass2yang oh I understand, I just had a feeling you might wanna know, also, chest voice that low can sound a lot like vocal fry if the cord closure isn't super good, that's why it might've almost sounded like vocal fry, at least it almost did to my ears
@bass2yang2 жыл бұрын
True - with processing it is hard to tell as well. A while back, he did the Dean Town and was solid all the way down to E1. D1 is very possible for him - especially the weight of the sound or clarity of pitch (I think I did say that in here, huh? Just didn't specifically say it was chest voice) that is usually not present in other singers when singing that low. Thanks! Elliott was definitely the best choice for this. 🔥
@YtprophetWZ2 жыл бұрын
@@bass2yang I believe Elliott did get it in chest voice, but it's so low some could mistake it for chest fry, and you're welcome, and I completely agree he was the best choice for this cover

Elliott D1 chest Voice! incredible C1 It's also chest voice
@bass2yang2 жыл бұрын
Right? Great stuff 🔥
@charlesdaloz25472 жыл бұрын
According to Peter, the C1 is inhale by Tomi, and Elliott is singing a C2 chest there
@bass2yang2 жыл бұрын
Nice - thanks for the info! Insider information is always best haha Edit: isn't it something to think that a chest C1 from Elliott was also considered? Haha. Nice.

Great analysis, but aren't we supposed to hear the piano, I can't hear. Just a small detail
@bass2yang2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! The whole audio messed up, unfortunately. I was able to salvage the singers at least by overlaying their track over what I recorded. Piano, however... kiss it good bye, lol. I was doing this "live" and the audio didn't patch through to OBS, but did come through my headphones. Thanks!
