@@BassBrothersFishingDMV It will be it's been thru many years of solid use and just recently took it off the water due to trailer rusting bad ujoints both leaf springs and axle and pretty much everything attached accept the galvanized trailer. So just getting started with the remodel will take prob 3 solid months and $10k if I put new motor on it (don't need to but might go 4 stroke) and about $5k if I don't. I also do all the work myself I've actually already done carpet covered wood deck/platforms a few times over the years in the boat but never did it 100% right with aluminum. Now that grandfather's passed away this time I'm spending the money n time to do it right. Putting in small center drive tower and pole platform and doing full deck and covering with nice sea mat or something similar. I have to go further with mine by taking out the benches and everything and reinstalling them where they'll fit but will be worth it. Already have plans drawn up. Mabee I'll send you some before and after pics since I don't upload to KZbin. I'll keep watching/commenting u got new sub. I don't bass fish often since I live in Florida on the ocean but fishing is fishing and better than watching TV any day.

Awesome videos! Been watching them all and I don't even have a Jon boat yet. LOL. As an idea for the rear spacers at the transom, you could just make the brace the full length you need. To compensate for the angle of the transom, just cut the side of the aluminum at an angle. That way you don't have to bend the support piece. Hope that helps.

Your video is very helpful. Thanks. I'm planning a similar deck over the rear of my Jon boat, which also has a slanted rear. I plan to separate my gas tank area with a vertical wall and provide plenty of ventilation. Separation and venting will reduce the accumulation of flammable vapors from the vent of the gas tank and possible spills when filling the tank. What are your thoughts about separating gas fumes from the battery, bilge pump, and associated wiring? Also, flammable Hydrogen vapors are slowly released from the battery. Any comments about venting the battery compartment will also be appreciated. Thanks again.

Honestly I don't know much about Hydrogen vapors but under my rear deck is wide open so hopefully that's enough ventilation for what I'm working with.

Use cardboard, or manilla folders as a template to find your angles ! It's easier to cut, and modify cardboard than it is to modify aluminum !! When I was fabricating in the pipe shop I had a file drawer full of manilla folders, masking tape, scissors, and carpenter's pencils !! Make a layout, then trace, abd cut !! That boat is looking good !! p.s. Take a break every now and then to go fishing !! It'll clear your mind, and you might come up with a brainstorm of an idea !!✌👍👍😁🤜🤛👊👊

Would I need to use rivets or is it possible to use self tapping screws all the way around? It looks good!
@BassBrothersFishingDMV4 жыл бұрын
I would go with rivets as much as possible. Its cleaner, safer and takes up less space. With screws you will have sharp points sticking out everywhere. Rivets can be placed in places screws can't. Screws take up more space. This will matter in places where you would put maybe 4 rivets and you would only be able to fit one or two screws. The flip side is there are applications where screws are best. You just have to assess it and make the best choice. Hope this helps.

Do you have a VIN Number on the rear of the boat on the outside (waterside) anywhere? I have a 92 Lowe 1436 and mine is located on the right at the top if looking at rear of boat. Just curious because boat makers supposedly put a second “hidden” VIN on all boats in case the boat is stolen and VIN removed. Helped a friend look for second vin plate and never could find anywhere. I believe you may have found the hiding spot for it under the weight restriction plate there.

How did you connect the middle bar between the motor?
@BassBrothersFishingDMV4 жыл бұрын
If you're taking about the middle bar attached to the Transom I didn't attach anything to it after all. The framing came out so stable I didn't need to in the end. I've fished off the rear deack for a few weeks now and its extremely strong and stable.

@BassBrothersFishingDMV4 жыл бұрын
I think so. It will last allot longer than wood and it's lighter. I'm the type that doesn't like to repeat processes or deal with high maintenance things. The aluminum should be good for several years to come.
