Thank you for not permitting those fish to die miserable deaths! I'm glad you got a better net--pretty sure getting all the fish out would have been much harder without it! I'm wondering, since this isn't a secret pond/fish source anymore and the fish in the other are doomed to death, are there aquarist groups you could reach out to and maybe as a group rescue as many fish as possible? Maybe the company behind the bulldozing would be up for a day of people doing that if they were shown how much good publicity they could get-- a la, we didn't know the fish were there and try to be good stewards yada yada? These guys let us know and they along with their friends will take care of the fish win win kind of stuff? You get an awesome video, fish get rescued and get homes, contractor/landowner heroes?

Bobby and Brandon, keep up the wonderful work you are doing! It is so sad that so many fish are being killed here. It reminds me of when I was a little boy and encountered my first example of wildlife habitat destruction when a pond in a local park was filled in to make a flowerbed. Anyway, you will probably always have residual issues, but do your best at pt, and be thankful for your progress every day. My accident was 2014, I still hurt once in awhile, but am very thankful I still move etc. Sorry if this sounds a bit disjointed, I really meant it as encouragement. Interesting video… I don’t know if the laws have been updated since mid 2021 but this is what I found on releasing invasive back into the water. In general, there’s no season or bag limit for non-native or invasive fish in Florida. You can head out and catch as many as you like, whenever you want. More than that, it’s actually illegal to release the fish alive. You either have to take them home and eat them, make them into bait, or find some other way to dispose of them. As always, the exceptions prove the rule. Peacock Bass are classified as game fish and have a set bag and size limit. Asian Grass Carp are illegal to harvest because the FWC only stocks sterile, triploid Carp. The rules for other fish could also change in the future, so always check if you’re not sure.

Insane Idea: For small ponds or pools like this i guess you could modify a cast net into a trawl net. In my imagination you could guide a thicker line oder rope through the edge of the net and then attach two parallel poles (maybe telescope) along the opposite sides of the net/rope. The Net is stretched between the end thirds of the two poles. With two people you could run along both sides of the pool or puddle and cover the whole width in one huge scoop. A bit like a professional fishery clears a pond.

One of the reasons I love this dude and his videos is because he genuinely cares. If he knows they're gonna die and he can't save them, he makes it quick and ends whatever suffering those fish are enduring. Sometimes, that truly is the best option, just quickly and painlessly euthanized them. Lots of respect towards him for having to make decisions like that, especially since it's obvious he GENUINELY cared about them, regardless whether or not they're invasive

If the area is being filled in you can collapse the sides to make the area more shallow and less wide . Keep in mind it will cause the water to become more murky cutting off the oxygen supply to the fish so they will surface for air which helps in identifying where they are

Ok I can not keep quiet any more about how much work you are doing when you do not have to. I got the best way for you to catch the most super easy. Once you have the catch holds loaded into the truck you simply sift them for keeps, feeders/bate, and return to the local canal where Chomper lives. Here is a list of all the things I think you would need for this trick. cable braded rope, lots of zip ties of all different sizes, Lath boards or pvc piping with cap ends (these will both function as your drag weights to help cut off tricky fish, or as top floating tubes), carabineer clips with HIGH weight capacity, 2 good shovels, coveralls, leather gloves, Water waders for like fly fishing, heavy duty toats with lids that have open finger loop handles, 2 mount to truck bed rim pully rings, a solid ramp that you can slide back into the truck once loading of toats is done, more of those potable air bubblers each attached to every toat inside, a cane hook like for snakes to help grab / move plants ect out of the way from each side of the bank as you walk your Long fish staff (with handle) along the sides as you team move fish twords the catch holds. Once you have the pond mostly shifted twords the catch holds stake the net into the ground solidly on each end. (you may have to use the shovel to tap them in secure.) Once most have been moved to the smaller section of pond blocked off by the "scooch" net, you have the open lidded toats burred slightly in with 1 end dipping into the water so the fish freely swim up and into them. Make sure to get dark lids to keep them shaded while you gather them into the catch holds. As you slowly move the fish in remember to pull the cord going through each of the weighted tubes from both sides as you go herding fish. This way it helps prevent the meshing form getting snagged on things. (Take turns tugging it from each side of pond as you "walk" it through the pond. You can add some small craft chime bells inside the weighted tubes to help show them away twords the end.) Using both cord and carabiners/ D clips and those 2 loops and ramp to easily get the filled and locked totes of fish things into the truck easier, I would also organize your truck bed a bit better to fit all the fish. If you need a visual explanation Let me know I can draw you something fast!
