A rather well loved SSD made in NY....sounds great, plays nice...ready to be PINK'D!!!! Laid back day....tie-dye and shorts....that's how most sessions are done these days!

I own #018(1999 blue/black oil finish) of the 5 string XL version and I don't understand why anyone would want to play anything else(apart from price)! Timeless craftsmanship.

I have a 1993 NS-4 SSD with 9 volt pre amp, PJ pick-ups, beautiful scalloped maple oil and wax finish. #31. Looks just like a NS-2 don't know why it says NS-4 on the back, hand signed by Stuart. Sounds very similar. I've done thousands of Gigs and tons of studio time with it. Sounds guys, producers, engineers, and bass players all try to buy it from me. There's not enough money in the world.

Yes you did! I used this one for a good while on tour dates etc. It has since moved on to another home where it is being well cared for and played!

Very cool Bass company and you have a nice bass I have a NS-4 but it has P and J pickups. There is no other sound like SSD creations!

I have a 93 #031 oil finish more figured wood says NS-4 but just like a NS-2 P/J pickups and 9 volt with 4 knobs no stacked, also has the SSD headstock. Everywhere I go soundmen love this bass. Have a couple Warwick's I use live but always this Spector in the studio.

This one is staying with me for the time being. Thanks for asking...

In your opinion do you think the USA basses are worth it over the Euro series. I understand the USA have prettier wood and inlays and active EMG-X pickups. Would a Euro with the same pickups perform or feel the same?

Honestly, The only real difference is the preamp, and if you're not getting the real HAZLab pre, they are relatively close.....Diehard Spector fans will prob disagree but I have owned enough of both...

This bass has the 18v Spector preamp. You can find it for sale on their website. It is a lot better than the tp.

I've got this exact bass, but it's still the oil finish, dated 5-31-95 on the HS. It's eerie how much this one sounds like mine. I bought it new in 96. Considered selling it, anyone have an idea of the value?

Why would someone go from oil finish to gloss ? That's just plain wrong!
