Bassmaster Elite: Bassmaster Angler of the Year Championship 2016

Gerald Swindle seeks his second Angler of the Year title on Mille Lacs Lake in Minnesota at the final Bassmaster Elite Series event of the 2016 season. The fishery is heaven for giant smallmouth bass, and Seth Fieder hammers 76 pounds 5 ounces out of his hometown waters. All of the anglers fight for points to make it to the 2017 Bassmaster Classic, but the drama centers around Brent Ehler and Seth Feider.

Thank you so much for this video! I was out there cheering on Seth that day! After all, they were fishing right on my hot spot! Mille Lacs truly is a wonderful lake for fishing as well as other activities. With the recent regulation changes on Walleye, people have been scared off, and as a result the area has suffered. After a recent cabin purchase on Mille Lacs myself, I am quite excited about the Smallmouth, Muskies, Jumbo Perch as well as Walleyes and other species. The lake offers world class fishing, countless establishments for a burger and beverage, as well as the "big water" feel. Mille Lacs is an excellent inland sailing lake, plenty of shallow, warm, protected bays offer tubing and skiing opportunity, and if the waves get too terrible, there's always the other fourty dozen lakes around the area! Just an easy 1.5 hour drive from the Twin Cities. Come check out Mille Lacs! This video doesn't lie,,,, the Smallies are pigs! (and I didn't even get paid to say any of that 😊)

Jimmy Aleman what point are you trying to prove? If you do something for a living you tend to invest in the best tools, you may not need said tools to complete the job but they make it easier and more consistent. Don't like $10,000 sonar systems? Don't buy one, you can catch plenty of quality fish without them, I don't use em. But neither of us are fishing for a paycheck and competing at the highest level.

Jimmy Aleman the whole point is finding fish and catching them right? So if the guy that just cast his lure at a visible target hoping to get a bite can afford a lowrance gen 3 touch 12" I would buy one cause if some body else has one they can tell u exactly where they are they're not hoping to get a bite they know they're getting a bite and that to me is a smarter and better fisherman.

Jimmy Aleman a lot of the time, you can mark fish but there is no guarantee you will catch them. It is not like you can see into their mind to pick the right bait. Electronics are like gloves in baseball. You don't need them, but it makes it easier to catch the ball and the fish.

HI Tony, here's the part of our rules that explains the points system. Let me know if you need any more info. - Sara C20. ELITE SERIES POINT SYSTEM: Bassmaster Elite Events will be on a 1-point-per- place system based on the field size on Day 1 of the first Elite event in 2017. From that day forward, the point system will remain the same throughout the 2017 season, including any post-season event. Example: If the season starts with a field size of 108, first will be awarded 108 points, second, 107, down to the last angler weighing a legal fish in the final standings. The remainder of the season would remain the same regardless of the number of withdrawals. Competitors must weigh a legal bass during competition to receive points. In the case where one or more competitors do not weigh a legal bass, points will end at the place of competitors weighing a legal bass. Year-end points/AOY tiebreakers will be broken by total weight from full field days for the season, to include the TBTF event and the AOY championship.
