What difference does it make? Either use it or don't. Since NPFL, has banned FFS, all those anglers that don't like the technology, should go over to that circuit. Bass will survive and bring in new anglers

I do hope the anglers and fans that are adamantly against FFS support NPFL
@CAN437252 ай бұрын
@@HellaBass I hope the fans that are adamantly pro FF sonar continue to support Bassmaster. The market will determine the future of the sport either way. My guess is there is not enough market to support NPFL, but we will see.

Bass live had a splitscreen at the one tournament with Fujita livescoping and some southernman sight fishing in reeds. Both were weaving their boats slowly back and forth while we stared at their backs. It was the same exact view for both styles. F' the crybabies.
@HellaBass2 ай бұрын
Agreed, maybe we need some POV cameras and some roaming cameras in boats, not all on back decks
@CAN437252 ай бұрын
Bassmaster did the right thing. FF sonar opens up more options and more of most lakes to anglers. Banning FF sonar will only satisfy ignorant, cheap or mentally challenged anglers.

These circuits should do more to protect the fish like reducing how many days these guys are on the water. How much pressure can some of these fisheries take? For example, the Opens have 200 boats practicing for 5 days, then 3 days of tournaments where fish are brought to the scales. This should stop. Give these guys 2 days of practice and a 2-day tournament. Also, more catch and release with live weighing. BASS and the other organizations should find other ways to bring fans to the expos. We don't need to watch weigh-ins.

Opens will be reducing practice days after this year. It is more about the host communities putting on events for the fans than the tournament organizer, Walker MN did a great job a few weeks ago

@HellaBass Interesting. Well, good to hear they are reducing practice days. I'm sure the exposure of the tournaments is great for the local businesses, get more angler traffic their way. Admittedly, selfishly, I'm more interested in protecting the fishery. I'd rather not have 200 of the best bass anglers in the country pounding Leech Lake for 8 days. I don't know the actual overall impact to the fishery, but I'm betting it's worse than if those 200 guys hadn't been there. I'm sure people in Alabama feel that way about places like Guntersville. Or how many guys out in New York and Ontario probably hate all the coverage on St. Lawrence???

John, I think B.A.S.S. pulled off the Great Compromise without Compromising... The NPFL announcement being first was no coincidence. This allows both leagues to continue to grow, share anglers, and give both the Nays & Yays fans something to follow. 🍺🎣 What's MLF and bring back the A-rig... 🤣

Does it matter what MLF does, they don't stick to it??? LOL

I think they did outstanding. Slow the arms race, but still allow ffs. I can’t believe so many anglers want a split schedule. I’d rather an outright ban than constantly changing rules.
@HellaBass2 ай бұрын
I kind of agree, for the hard core fans it makes sense but likely to confuse new and casual fans
@bgood4192 ай бұрын
I guess this gives optionality to anglers. If they don't want to fish in a league that allows FFS then NPFL is for them! I also think restricting the number of transducers for BASS events is great as well, but banning it completely is likely a really bad idea because we still need to allow the sport freedom to grow and evolve.
@HellaBass2 ай бұрын
I appreciate your balance and sane take
@LV_FISHIN2 ай бұрын
They shouldnt have restricted anything at all...
@HellaBass2 ай бұрын
not sure that I agree, but I can respect that opinion
@Goatse-monogatari_no_homo2 ай бұрын
They should ban bed fishing and limit the strength of line. Skipping fish across the water while horsing them in isn't skillful or competitive in any way.
@lightningmusky52862 ай бұрын
No real change for Bass because the sponsor money was too good. I think it’s good to have an option of the NPFL for people that don’t like FFS. BPT your on the clock! It would be stupid to have FFS at higher level and ban it at the lower level.
@HellaBass2 ай бұрын
I guess one of the BFL tournament directors posted they won't be banning live sonar at BFLs on Facebook, we will see

I have a great example of another perspective BASS is completely missing if they truly want to capture new viewers. My neighbor saw me in the boat garage and asked me what my live sonar transducer was on the troliing motor. I told him it was a live sonar transducer that allowed me to scan and see fish in real time. He immediately said "wow that's cheating isn't it?" His other comment was "that kinda takes the sport outta fishing doesn't it?" Not saying it should be banned for rec use, but if BASS or any of the other Orgs truly want to get pro bass fishing more mainstream then they have to remove these perceptions!
@MJ_Bass2 ай бұрын
Your neighbor isn’t going to watch anyways. The sport is watched by die hard tournament fisherman.
@Bassfinatic-hb4dp2 ай бұрын
@@MJ_Bass 100% agree especially with these perceptions is my point. It's another added perception of our sport just like folks that think it's a buncha guys with beer bellies on the bank throwing a worm out and watching a bobber. Just saying live sonar is not improving the perception. Once again agree it's only the diehards which is why this sport is not getting bigger and more mainstream.
@HellaBass2 ай бұрын
Bass Finatic - I think you made the point, most people thing fishing is watching bobbers, most people don't know what FFS is, so I think the FFS perception doesn't matter until the other is changed
@Bassfinatic-hb4dp2 ай бұрын
@@HellaBass don't disagree with that statement, however the live sonar is certainly not helping the general perception of our sport becoming more widely viewed as a sport in general IMO. One again I have it and do not want to see it go away for rec use.
