Belated Merry Christmas Gavin & Happy New Year! BTW I bit the bullet and updated the firmware, etc. on my new M4P and, thankfully, the height option is still 500 meters. I plan to video some gorgeous mountainous areas of Thailand in the coming year so I won't be saddled with 120 meters from the Home Point when trying to reach the top of a hilly area. 😁

Greetings from Terceira Island in the Azores! I'm a little concerned about the DJI Mini's tendency to overheat when transferring big files with the drone switched on. Could we use a cable to connect both devices while keeping the drone off (just the cable plugged in), similar to how I transfer files from the drone to my PC?

Hi there! So in the settings you will see there is an option called USB mode, this is designed to be used when using USB cables for transferring files and indeed limits the overheating issue on these devices. Of course you can do the same, just plug one end into the drone, other end into the pc and when you switch your drone on your pc should detect it as an external storage device for you to drag the photos and videos over. Hope this helps

Great video Gavin.I use this function on M2 which is great, is it max quality done in this way or is it better to extract data off memory card via otg card reader? I know its out of topic but I currently own a mini 2 which I love, but maybe a mini 3 pro in the future but can you assist on this, I recently had a trip overseas and wanted to know if there was anyway you can upload a 360 picture to Google maps. I came to this video hoping to learn how to transfer from the controller (not drone) to the phone. Why you may ask? Well because I saved the video in the controller and deleted it from the drone so it was not showing up in the quicktransfer between drone & phone. I found out by myself so if anyone needs it, its just as easy as with the drone.. turn on the controller and go to quick transfer, you will see the steps to transfer directly to the phone. Basically what you need to do on your phone is open the dji fly app on your phone -> go to album -> quick transfer button -> you will see an option to scan a qr code, the code is shown on the controller with the steps when you've opened quicktransfer earlier.

I have been able to overlay images when using Wifi. But if you are "far in the forest" and don't have Wi-Fi nearby, you can't use mobile data?? Tried, but DJI Fly app only asks for Wifi..

Like the other comment mentioned, were you required to have the app or wifi to use the cable? I work in roofing, where I'll be in the field all day, with no access to wifi. It'd be nice to share the photos with my customers while I'm there.

I dont think so, The drone has the SD card not the Controller. You technically dont need the controller. You can connect your phone and the drone and transfer using quick connect.

I can transfer screen recordings from the RC2 directly to my iPhone but so far they are transferring in 720p and not at the 1080p resolution of the RC2 controller but they do transfer quicker and are still great for reference when I try to learn more from analyzing my flights.

No, I have tried to download several times but nothing. I had a mini pro 3 and did the same thing. The drone got dropped in the salt water so bought the mini 4 pro and still the same problem with the file transfer. I have deleted the app and reinstalled but the same thing happens! very frustrating. Is there a DJI help line at all? i am in Australia. Thanks for your reply.

I do this with my Air 3, and it was fast transfer for a few weeks, now it constantly says high interference area and transfers slow, like 1 to 2.5 mb/sec instead of over 30 like it used to. Any thoughts on this? I'm home when I transfer files as I did before.

Screen recordings are a pain in the rear end, you can get them to work via Bluetooth on an android phone but iPhone it won’t so the SD option is needed.

Hmm.. I normally take the SD card out place into adapter download to my iPhone that for mini 3 pro .. but with the mini 4 pro … well it doesn’t ???? Format your SD card whilst it’s in the drone then it should offer it as a storage device. Let me know how you get on

I could make that if needed, however that is very simple, take the card out the drone and pop it in the pc / card reader or just USB into your pc and the pc will recognise it as a storage device and you can drag and drop the files over :)
