Impressive test. Some youtubers do make the mistake to not move when the drone has lost tracking behind an obstacle. You must move in line of sight to give it a chance to recover. Thats what we can see here.... the drone interpolates your direction when you're hidden and expects you on the other side. When you popped up and went on.... all good. Good test.

Brilliant, great genuine test, thanks. I have been flying my Mini 3 along similar narrow wooded tracks for the past year but I have to say I have had quite a few crashes, in fact probably one per journey. One thing I have been impressed with is how well my Mini 3 copes with crashes, only once have I had to replace a propellor. Given my focus on landscape and walks this is a pretty strong argument for an upgrade, especially also with the new advanced active track options.

Hya Gavin, Very interesting test and well done friend. I just received mine a week ago also. I love this little bird. I finally learned to make a hyperlapse without draining the battery to 80 before I even start. I choose hyperlaps always but forget to choose WHAT TYPE. When ready the drone never moves, LOL LOL. I have a question when it finaly finished and says creating video what file do I need? I do not see anything but images with no way to link them. Do I need to use an editor like shotcut to assemble them? I was sick with some illness this summer and was not out much with other work as well. I forget what to do with the files after they are done. I was amazed with this video you shared. It is amazing how you did that. I actually saw you not seen by the drone but it guessed your current path from past movement. That was amazing how it handled and you did not go to fast to let it THINK as we.. Great job and I kept this video and doenloaded it to save. Well done ny Great UK friend!! Ray C. Florida P.S Let me know what you do when you take out the XD card with the hyperlapse on it. I will make a card to learn it well. Ray C.

@Stefan_Boerjesson Жыл бұрын
There's an army of video creators making tests like this. In the final end the question is: What is a detectable obstacle and what isn't? Will there come any video testing the limit for detecting and classifying things as obstacles? One video from Henrik Olsen showed tracking from at the left side going wrong. Suddenly the drone looked like changing into tracking from the right side and it headed for a tree directly. Automation with bugs? Those automatic functions are thrilling but not being interested in consuming drones, manual flying is preferred. Tracking, flying through the jungle.... That's for people not paying for their drones or having fat wallets. What's the use of it for ordinary drone pilots not willing to their equipment at risk?
@GAVINHR Жыл бұрын
I pay for my own drones thank you and put my own drone at risk to show what it can or can’t do 1 - because I was curious and 2 if I’m going to test something I’ll test it to the extreme. My watch is waterproof to 50m, I’m never going to take it to 50m underwater but it’s nice to know it will be safe if I drop it in a sink of water. Same with this test.
@Stefan_Boerjesson Жыл бұрын
@@GAVINHR I didn't mean offending You. (Guess it looks like that.) Flying at resonable altitudes and low speeds mostly a prop or two is at risk. I ran my Mavic 3 pro at full speed, in Sports mode, knowing the obstacle avoidance is off, into the soft upper branches of a tree due to wrong heading. (Thought I could keep a safe heading flying sideways.) The drone was found and only one prop pair needed to be changed. A miracle. This makes it hard to enjoy near to crash tests..... You also did notice unexpected behaviour of the drone. That's worrying. Why use those functions at all? People not flying, might like to see crashes. I refer to all those road crash videos. Being a serious pilot, the interest is different. But, keep on doing the things You like!
@GAVINHR Жыл бұрын
@Stefan_Boerjesson I just wanted to be clear I do not get my drones for free when I do this tests :) yes I will admit there was some strange behaviour, tracking worked perfectly whilst moving but I have noticed a flaw, I don’t like crash videos to be honest either, tests like this always carry risk but also this is how we show the technology is working of course! Sounds like a very lucky escape with the mavic 3! They are built to last it has to be said
@Stefan_Boerjesson Жыл бұрын
@@GAVINHR Thanks Gavin. I recently wrote to Henrik Olsen, in Denmark, that I'm surprised seeing this huge interest in making sophisticated selfies..... I guess the technology is the interesting part, more than the selfie. The TV news just reported about autonomous cars in California.... It didn't look too good. I suppose waypoints have its weak points too....
