The beat in this one just has simple, fantastic sequencing, as well as great use of pitch in the kick. That's what I really respect Bassnectar for, the way he's able to set up a common-sounding beat (i.e. the 808) but make it fluctuate enough so that you don't get bored. Takes a really good ear to make that happen.

Depends on what rap you listen to... A lot of it is about drugs, sex, and alcohol, but so is a lot of country, 80's/90's rock, heavy metal etc. The only difference is that rap doesn't try to hide it under the pretense that it's all fun and games.
