@@alexmller3714 You can probably easily fit a dual concentric knob for that (1 volume + 1 tone/blend). I would most likely just disconnect the bridge pickup though, but that depends on if I like the tone the pickups blended or not.

I'm eyeing up one as well, & like N J, I'll probably nix the bridge pickup. So hard to find the right short scale setup, don't want want to blow my money on a Fender with a switch instead of a blend, & Squier only offers the classic mustang pickup with the classic mustang bridge, even though the string through is tempting. I just got my Harley Benton 6 string bass and I have to say, it's amazing. I have played lots of other basses over the years and I cannot believe how quality this bass is. Low action, no buzzing, pickups are decent (although I will switch them out, and get locking tuners, but totally fine as they are), and just plays and sounds great. Zero issues with imperfections that I can find anywhere on the bass. This is my first Harley Benton but I will definitely be getting others to play around with. They are awesome instruments!
@gt96g Жыл бұрын
9.8 lbs for a Harley Benton is quite reasonable. Given their price I'd be fine with that. But I owned one for a short time that was close to 12lbs, couldn't even play it comfortably sitting down because of the pressure on my leg. There was another for sale recently in my area in the US, that was 11 lbs. If Thomann could get the weight of these under 10 consistently I'd probably have 5 of them, they are awesome for modding and such, and the fit and finish is unreal for the price, but my past experience with how heavy they can get leaves me very hesitant.

@mtkwe Жыл бұрын
While I think this channel is a bit biased in Harley Benton's reviews (I'm not judging btw) I think that the weight issue is a subject which has a very personal evaluation system: For example, I usually tend to prefer a thicker wood (ex: alder) cause it makes me feel like I'm holding an actual instrument, while lighter and less "dense" woods make me question my satisfaction in terms of resonance and overall feel. I played much heavier basses in my 'career' and so I know that sometimes they can even cause shoulder and back pain BUT the problem can in most cases be reduced, if not solved, by a good strap which is something we usually overlook. The importance of a wide and high quality strap is never brought up enough imo, which should be instead considered in the equation. I also think that sometimes we tend to discredit 'low' range instruments like this one because we have to justify ourselves paying thousands of bucks for a branded instrument, so we bring up the weight issue Lots of branded instruments weight more than HBs but we don't actually talk about it hence why I think it is more of a psychological issue than of a real one
@schepler2 Жыл бұрын
Agreed. I think the heavier weight indicates a higher-quality instrument. I know that that's objectively incorrect, but that's my personal bias. I'm suspicious of ultra-lightweight basses.

I had bought a V3 Gen 2 about 3-4 years ago. There might be a hype raging on nowadays, but that does not change the fact that you get twice or more the bass than you pay for. Just the preamp it comes with will put the "pro" brand preamps to the shame. You pay more than the bass' price and you won't get a variable mid with most of them
@jacobbylling4433 Жыл бұрын
True!! Those extra “dimes” you spend on getting one of these, compared to a Harley Benton, will really pay off. That preamp also makes the Sire a 1000 times more versatile than a HB. I been using a (1st gen.) Sire V7 with the alder/rosewood config. as my main bass for 1 year now and played huge gigs with it countless times. Never fails.
