the house is NOT abandonded, the owner was planning on doing the place up, BUT every time he got stuff deleivered or started to do wirk idiots would come around and trash the place and destory his stuff. he spends more time boaring the place up and fixing the vandalisim than he does working on it now. Just because of who lived there for a short time does not give people the right to take out anger or hate on another persons property. It is not the houses fault it was owned by some one bad

Such a shame that a beautiful iconic building should have been tarnished by his actions. Such a shame to see it in such a way. People should remember that its not his house anymore and leave it well alone. I understand why people are angry but its not the new owners fault and it could be a beautiful home. Some people can only dream if such a beautiful property. Thankyou so much for this video, ive watched many on this particular property because of the stunning location and every video shows it destroyed a little more.

Why do you call it iconic? To me, Scotland is the 2and most beautiful country in the world due to its geography, the ocean, old stone farm houses, absolutely beautiful, but this particular house doesn't have that architecture.. Maybe it is all stone, like the outside wall, but inside is refurbished with not so beautiful materials. The view is amazing!

Please note this place is now owned privately after its sale in 2012 was completely emptied of everything before boarded up. To some they only only focused on the previous owner but to some it has more historical significance in that it was Hamish McInnes home who founded the Glencoe Mountain Rescue team and went in to set up the whole mountain rescue movement in Scotland that has saved thousands of life’s. The building is not Jimmy Savile it was here before him and after and wish others would respect that. Alt-Na-Reigh hopefully will be repaired and used and less of the eye sore. The Rumour that twenty children could have been abused at the site has been questioned some actually believe no one was abused at the site. One alleged victim described a totally different building and miles away from the road up a track - hardly the reality of this place right next to the A82. An other said they were at the site but in a group and nothing happened.

“I don’t blame them” “it’s understandable” Come on guys, how old are you? What did the house do? It’s a beautiful old house in my area of the highlands. Only southern Scottish (Glaswegians?) would condemn trashing a property. Smh. I don’t know any grown adults that would be juvenile enough to say I don’t blame people for trashing a property. Trash the person fine. The house did nothing. That might be how people act where you’re from. Not here in the highlands.

For what it's worth I had the displeasure of bumping into Saville in 2005 when me & my parents were driving out of the big car park at Luss near Loch Lomond. Saville dressed in his signature gold coloured shell suit & all his bling (the gold medallions, the rings & all the other jewellery!) was standing on the corner of the exit road for the car park at Luss & where it meets the busy A82 road, he was trying to flag down cars in order to get people to sign up to his latest charity scheme! While we were stopped at the junction he walked over to our car & approached me who was sitting in the back of the car with our two dogs Max & Judy. My Mum told me not to speak to him & she said that he was senile & had lost his mind & I wish now in hindsight that I had listened to my Mum's sound & wise advice & I made the mistake of winding down the window to shake his hand & have a conversation with him not knowing then about his dark past & his evil & vile acts! Both my dogs must have sensed the evil that was in him & they barked incessantly at Saville who backed off immediately & mumbled something that was incoherent! We drove off & after a period of reflection we wished that we had never crossed his path!

as mentioned mountaineer Hamish McInnes was living there for many years before Saville and I remember he kept the garden really lovely, it was such a pretty little cottage with a colourful garden as you drove past, a real landmark. Saville payed way over the asking price to make sure he got to buy it, In Scotland buying a house is like a blind auction, offers are invited over a certain amount, you put your offer in and the highest offer gets the property, but its not a bidding auction because you don't know what the other prospective buyers have offered, the seller's lawyer just opens all the offers after the closing date and its just whoever offered the most...there is no gazumping like in England, rumour has it Saville offered almost twice the asking price...the little rat bag. Hamish McInnes would be very sad if he were alive to see his former home in this state, to hell with Saville, he is dead and gone so I think someone should try and turn this into a home again, or at the very least turn it into a mountaineers bothy, I don't see why the building should suffer because of him to be honest, destroying a holiday home that belonged to a reviled person is maybe not the ideal way to express anger towards him, the building had history before Saville got his dirty hands on it.

To be honest I’m surprised at how small it is inside, and unless I missed it, didn’t see a bedroom? The lounge was small and poky ....can’t see him ever entertaining “friends” there. Are you saying his mother stayed there with him ?? The room you mentioned as a bedroom was behind the kitchen, and hardly big enough to get a small bed jn...looked more like a pantry size, so I’m a bit confused with the actual,layout . But the views are special....I could smell the cold fresh air, and saw the Heather coming through...so pretty August time. It is a shame it’s been vandalised ...it wasn’t the fault of the house, tho I can understand the pain and anger felt by those who did it, wouldn’t it have been better sold? And the money go either towards his victims or starting a support group for victims.,money could have been put to good use that’s all. One thing I did think, was it would have been better if you had broken the top half of the glass remaining in that door...it’s a nasty accident waiting to happen right at neck height, if someone just walked into it...Thankyou for sharing it, but best by far was your filming the beautiful scenery. Thankyou.

The first time I saw that was in relation to the murder of little April Jones, I think the West's house was also demolished. These demolitions are a double edged sword. With regard to children's homes, where it does occur, it undermines any testimony given by a victim. Their memory and recall can be tested against their knowledge of the building and descriptions thereof. Imagine if a victim of Saville's were to come forward now, the fact that she could describe the interior, guests, number plates and car types would add credibility to his/ her testimony. Demolition would mean that this could not be verified. In other words, it also helps to destroy evidence and undermine testimonies -aside from remaining a stain on the UK in terms of its known problems with regard to paedophilia and worse, the efforts to protect the paedophiles, before the vulnerable victims.

My point exactly, Gavin. What has that property not been renovated and sold? Just because Saville owned it , it needs to be thought of as the home of a great man! Savvile should be forgotten!
@whigwood

I absolutely agree. To me it was always Hamish MacInnes' cottage, never Savile's, - and I bet he would never have sold it to Savile had he been aware of the facts.

I really couldn't agree more, Gavin. The key to tackling your abuser is to report it. If the police won't do anything, go to the press. I jailed my abuser for 9 years 40 years after I was terribly abused. The satisfaction that I felt, was unmeasurable! I faced my abuser in court! Property never figured in my case. As I said previously, dead men can't feel what they should be feeling and dead men can't defend themselves. They wrecked his grave, this just publishes his family, he will never know or care.
