Bastinelli makes some really innovative tools. Such a minimalist backup weapon to create some space. While I hate Chinese clones I would love to compare this one with the knockoff D2 clones by Canku (& other Chinese thieves). While I hate to tell people to go with a cheap knockoff this design & the similar Bastinelli REFT clone the Canku C1140 are such a minimalist, easily carried, & concealed blade, as well as so easy to use in close like in a car or with an attacker, mounted on you that I can't help but tell folks to consider the $25 version vs the $125 version. If you ever have to use your knife in self-defense or your firearm it may take years to get the weapon released to you so having a minimal investment lost wouldn't be a huge deal. Also for those of us with kids, this is a very inex[pensive & easy tool to train your wife or kids to use & again if it is lost or damaged your out a fraction of the Bastinelli. I also recommend not using your self-defense knife for general tasks so it is always razor-sharp & ready to go so having super steel & heat treat is ideal if this is your EDC user, but if your purpose for this is the one time you may need it to defend yourself it may work fine. I have yet to get either one of these or check the strength & edge holding of the Chicom one, but I can't stress how good this design is. I have big hands so I will likely be opening up the ring on mine so instead of needing to get a finger (maybe gloved in Winter) in the ring to grip the knife, I will just have a bit of a C shaped hook that will give me more handle & an easy way to deploy & retain the knife. I hope this helps someone & if anyone has tried the Chicom copies I would love to hear about the experience.

I don't recommend using it as a knuckle duster. That thin of a ring won't distribute the pressure well enough like a thicker duster. Newton's third law and all, i would avoid punching with it.

@@TerriblyTactical very. Those kinda blades you don't need "knife training" to do damage with it. And let's face it, 99% of us have no knife training at all. So a blade that's designed for basic slashing/pull back is close to a natural "get off me" reaction in (my personal opinion) better for most people. 🤷 That's why I carry the "cold steel full serrated black talon 2" cause u don't need to kno how to knife fight to use that knife and be affective lol

I think its more stupid someone would trust their lives to a cheap chinese knife. Whats your life and peace of mind worth ? For some of us its worth more than others and some of us have occupations where we rely on this stuff and absolutely need it to work and substantially be at a lower risk of failing. Knife collectors and weekend warriors might not feel compelled to buy this and thats fine but some or us dont mind spending money for a life time tool.

the one box i saw by them said "tactical art". with that said art gets pricey because we spend on based on emotion n artists know that. i go through the same shit when i looked for a stipple artist for my Glocks (Dave Modz- THE best). so i guess like how it hurts at the time but we end up coveting our art more than our crap- 150$ isnt really that bad $1050 would be bad, but still wouldnt surprise me in this day n age.

these are the little details that really annoy me about knife makers, and youtube fight channels that "design" a knife. for the price of that knife, which let's be honest is not hand-made, even if it was, it's about $6 worth of steel, you would think they could spring for the actual version of the clip. at the insane markup they put on that knife, pinching pennies by using off-brand is ridiculous. "but your paying for the quality" no, your not your paying for the names on it. don't believe me? go to Jantz supply, order yourself a piece of high carbon steel, and make probably 40 of those knives with the price it took to buy that one. "but Doug Marcaida indorses it" yeah that and 20 other knives, and Doug isn't going to come to use it for you, and let's be honest, has Doug ever been in a life or death fight with this knife? or any knife? now having said all this...I have the pika and I love it lol. - a 5 time deployed combat veteran and trainer.
