I love pens and have quite few collection of them especially fountain pens. Parker, cross, waterman, Mont Blanc, Shaffer, and many others., I do not own a Bastion, time to get one. Thank you for the review. Excellent.

I have a few questions. 1. Have you tried removing the clip and checking if the screws block the bolt when fully inserted. How thick is the clip? 2. If you have removed the bolt for inspection, did you notice if the bolt was flat or dimpled on the side facing the refill? 3. Does the refill rattle when extended? i.e. is there much play at the tip? 4. Did you measure the diameter/length of the spring? If so, what is the diameter and length? Have you tried different spring lengths to adjust the tension of the bolt?

I haven't tried to remove the clip, but I can tell it is intended to be removable because Bastion offers replacement clips and clips screws, as well as replacement bolts, nose cones/tips, springs and o-rings. I haven't removed the bolt on my pen, but the picture of the replacement bolt on the Bastion website looks like the opposite end is cone shaped. The fit and finish of this pen is excellent and there is no rattling anywhere including the tip. I don't have any calipers to get an exact measurement of the spring but it appears to be approximately 2.5 cm long with a diameter of 4mm.

@@gadgetstop321 Thank you for the reply. I play with pens quite a bit and found one of my pet peeves was tip rattle. The feel of the tip moving every time I put the ballpoint on the page is annoying. I wish I had used fountain pens when I was in college. Notes would have been much easier to take. I think a Bastion may be in my future. As if I didn't have enough fountain pens I have moved to adding ballpoints to my collection. Good recommendations are appreciated. Thanks!

i’ve not used Parker’s gel refills: would probably need it to be 0.5mm or preferably 0.3mm to accommodate my small handwriting and would also need it not to smear if it gets wet(I work outside): do they have such a refill?

As far as I can tell, the Parker branded gel refills only come in blue or black and only come in this size (0.7).

@@gadgetstop321 thanks for this: think 0.7mm might be too broad for my small script: currently using Parker Jotter w a fine ballpoint refill which works well and is waterproof:)
