When they went to the UK the producers told them to change their stye because it was too naive and teeny-bobber-beat. Told Stevie Wright to stop writing songs and so Vanda and Young took over from Wright and Young. But Wright and Young had spourned hits like those here, plus Woman (make you Feel Alright), Come and See Her, Sorry, Wedding Ring to name just a few. Producers in UK told them to make more sophisticated pop. Critics laughed at their tight matching suits. They made on successful song - 'Friday on My Mind' a staple legacy hit for ever and ever and a cultural/social bottler, a few rambly psychedelic songs some that had good bits in them messed up with mush, and a couple of rockers like Good Times and Show me the Way to St Louis that went nowhere at the time. Back in Australia and broke in 1969 they looked jaded except Vanda and Young who whilst present, looked like they had checked out. A final tour and good bye. BUt what a great bunch of musos and a classic 1960s story. I suppose very few mod-beat bands could survive 1967 and still be relevant. Small Faces kind of. Kinks, kind of.

@@lindsaykelly2224 Really? I can't hear it and I tried hard - back in the 80s - when I was consumed by the mod-beat-pop of the mid 60s. I hear little pieces within those songs that are so cool and would have been fantastic on their own - like I wished they could have built entire songs on them ....like the Velvet Underground would have. Instead they seemed to need to 'cover all bases' and added too many parts and style changes. I think George Young said it was a trap to try to make many styles all at once, and when ACDC was made, they went the compete opposite direction. One formula - One trillio0n dollars.
