The fruit bats you see have been rescued from the cruel, exotic pet trade, research, and retired from zoos. Many of these bats have had terrible lives before finding sanctuary with us. Some of the bats came from people who purchased them as pets and then realized they were ill-equipped to care for them (we commend these people for doing the right thing!). The bats range in size from a body of 2 inches long with a wingspan of 6″ to a body about the size of a small cat and a wingspan of 4 feet. Footage will usually be in night vision, which makes the bats’ eyes and other objects glow. The fruit bats usually become active at about 7 to 8 pm CST during the summer and 6 to 7 pm during the winter. NOTE: Volume is only available at night.
We have a total of 10 livestream cams available, including a deer cam, goat cams and a squirrel/bird cam, on this link: batworld.org/b...
Our KZbin livestream shows the Captain's Corner where the Captain, an Indian flying fox, waits for his treats each evening. A sweet potato kabob, a mango net and salad buckets and toys are also in view. This camera points toward the door to the semi-outdoor flight area so you will see bats flying in and out at night. Treat time (cubed melon), given by caregivers, occurs between 6:00 to 8:00 every evening CST. Note: Treat time varies depending on the number of rescues we’ve received and cared for that day.
Donations from the caring public allows us to rescue these beautiful animals and give them the life they so deserve. Please help us support the bats! batworld.org/d...
