Batala Banda De Percussao Drums Liverpool Hope Street

The renaissance of Liverpool's historic Hope Street. The city's cultural quarter, which sits between the Anglican and Metropolitan Cathedrals, has undergone a transformation to make it a hub for the arts and business communities as well as making it a must-see destination for visitors. Amongst the days celebrations was a drumming group. They were fantastic as you can see!

They could play all day, too! So much stamina! I saw them today, same street, but 20/09/2009. The whole group could barely stop themselves from grinning the whole time, the audience too. :-D It was infectious, such a good vibe! A very simple, primal human thing. And as such, incredibly beautiful.

It's a unique style of samba reggae known as Batala, founded in Paris by a Brazilian named Giba Concalves. The Paris band play even faster.
