In this lesson you will be learning about basic encryption techniques. Encrypting your batch file can be useful if you want to conceal important data if someone tries to edit your batch file.

Or what you could do is create a program that can create encrypted .txt files, and if you want to decrypt it you can place it in a certain folder and have the encrypted message imported into the program, and have it decrypt it for you.

you can encrypt it, but don't bother on trying on a flashdrive with FAT32 as a file system. in properties, hit advanced and click encrypt.

I would't recommend you to do it these days as people should not have permission to see the batch file if they don't really know this simple scripting. Remove unauthorised permission via ACL will be the most cost-effective way.

Terry Mccain What are you talking about? Encryption isnt randomly generated at all. Its about changing the subject or sentence to something unreadable unless decrypted. For example, the ASCII encryption.

Let's say you work for the government of the USA, and you need to make a program using batch, well... if someone else gets access to the program, and edits it, then they might ruin the whole program. If the program ran the ICBMs, then we might have nuclear war. Therefore encription is useful...

MrSnipesGaming Not saying what it meant, just saying that they can look at the source file so that your encrypted message can be encrypted because you can look at which markers are with which letter. It's like having the answer key to a word search.

I don't trust .bat to .exe encoders, and people CAN still open your executable files sometimes with a program like CodeReflect but yeah sure, they can't use notepad. the point is you should just get a better language to make a program of sorts and not have to go through the trouble of converting a batch file into an executable.
