To get beaten so heavily at home with a squad littered with that talent is quite bizarre. So disappointing because they could be real European contenders, but they're just going to get hammered in their group by La Rochelle and Leinster. Oh well, at least Saracens look to be back to near their ruthless best.

Rugby Union has changed dramatically in the last two decades (players have gotten taller and relatively thinner etc., the scrum isn't what it used to be...) having bizarrely evolved towards rugby league ; THIS IS the reason imo why Bath aren't as good a team as they used to be in the 80s & 90s, when the nature of the game was a lot more suited to Bath's very orthodox rugby union style of play (changes that have also affected other teams: e.g. Biarritz Olympic etc. albeit to a lesser extent) The only way Bath will become a great team again is should the game (as the rules continue to evolve) recover its fomer old fashioned attire (good old scrums, proper rucks & mauls etc.) that differentiate it from rugby league.

After a few years of Daly being mid-used at full-back… Malins is an embarrassment of riches for England in the coming years. So fast, great tackler, wonderful handling. Makes sprints looks like jogs :O

The only thing that can lighten my mood as a Bristol supporter after our woeful start is Bath getting smashed by a record score.

As obviously awful as the Bath defence must have been to concede 71 points, their attack in the first half just looked so so clueless. People getting given the ball who didn't look ready for it, like they didn't know what the system was or what was going to happen next. I know the Sarries defence is notoriously intense, but you can at least have a plan in place to best deal with it. As an aside, for that first Itoje try, how little did Cipriani want to try and tackle him - he just let him pass through without even trying. Contrast with Farrell who, for all his dubious technique, always puts his body on the line.

Sometimes you need to hit rock-bottom before anything changes. There's just no belief in the team at the moment. Quins this week too, Bath are staring down the barrel of five losses on the trot.
