One of the campiest characters of this show-and THAT is saying something. :p Victor Buono, who played King Tut, was a classically-trained actor who starred in Shakespearean productions and received an Oscar nomination for “Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?” Despite this pedigree, though, Buono loved the role and came back several times precisely *because* Tut was so ridiculously over the top. He even happily bragged that being on “Batman” gave him the excuse to do something he’d been told never to do-OVERACT! :p Thanks for the laughs, Mr. Buono. :D

I watched Batman during the 1970's. I never realized how 'shakespearian' Buono was. I think the main attraction to batman was how great these classic artists really were. The Penguin, The Joker, The Riddler and the rest. All classic characters put on by superb actors.
@jessfrankel52124 жыл бұрын
Buono could overact with the best of them, but that's what made him likeable in this role. But he was a very versatile actor who could do drama, horror, and comedy with equal aplomb. He was great in Who's Minding The Mint as the Captain--that shot of him going down with the ship is classic--and he was amazing in Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? Pity he died so young.
