Batman & Batman Returns are still the best Batman movies in my opinion. They were way ahead of their time. They were “dark” before it was a thing but they also had proper acting in them. Dialogue. Story and world building. They weren’t just endless action sequences with some lame humour squeezed in to pad them out. Just wish WB and DC would have let Burton make one more in his style rather than selling out to boost toy sales.

First of all. The line is "this town needs an enema" and secondly, Ledger's joker was but a shadow of Jack Nicholson's reign of terror. A criminal of absolute wanton craziness. Terrifying.

This is the first movie I ever saw in June 1989 and is still my *FAVORITE* as Keaton plays him as a more silent guardian and watchful protector while Bale plays him as such a loud and angry character with throat cancer. Tim Burton and Michael Keaton were the ones who first started and forever changed Batman into a dark and serious character in ‘89 and as far as Bat-Gadgets go, nothing is cooler than the ‘89 and ‘92 Batmobile Tim Burton designed compared to Bale and Affleck’s tank. Unlike Nolan’s, Tim Burton’s Batmobile had a very creative bat-motif to it with: _wings, a jet-turbine engine, spherical bombs, a pair of forward-facing Browning machine guns, side-mounted disc launchers, and chassis-mounted shinbreakers, side-mounted grappling hook launchers and a central "foot" capable of lifting and rotating it 180°. In addition to its armor plated body, a heavy armor cocoon, oil slick dispensers, smoke emitters, and in extereme circumstances, a "Batmissile" mode to avoid capture._ None of the other 6 so called Batmobiles can top that. Tim also chose by far the best person _(Danny Elfman)_ to create the most iconic Batman theme also used in Batman TAS. If it wasn’t for Tim Burton’s dark and creative idea of how The Dark Knight should be, Batman would still be dancing in blue and gray tights on the screen.

*I also find Jack Nicholson to be the best Joker for 6 reasons:* *1. Nicholson's Joker was actually very funny.* _Nolan’s and DCEU’s Joker played by Heath Ledger and Jared Leto barely had a good sense of humor._ *2. Nicholson's Joker was incomparably closer to the authentic comic book character.* _Nolan's and DCEU’s Joker was a completely new character, unrelated to the original in almost every aspect of his interpretation._ *3. Jack's Joker killed more people in this movie.* _So much for the other alleged "darker and scarier Jokers"._ *4. Jack Nicholson's Joker had a very interesting On-Screen Origin, and a motive for revenge (so did Batman).* _Ledger and Leto’s Joker has nothing._ *5. Jack was an euphoric type of lunatic, closer to Schizophrenic, rather than Ledger's and Leto’s anarchistic Psycho type.* _Nicholson wins again._ *6. Finally, Jack Nicholson's Joker was classier, more stylish, he had better makeup, more convincing smile, was an expert chemist, and his weapons were absolutely cooler compared to Nolan’s and DCEU’s Jokers.* _Just to be clear, Nicholson plays a more comic accurate version as well as DC Comics #168 (1951) introduced the Joker's first origin story. During Jack Napier’s final heist, he vanishes after falling into a vat of chemicals to escape Batman resulting in disfigurement leading him to adopt the name "Joker", from the playing card figure he came to resemble. The other versions are just unnecessary modifications, usually ranging far away from the original story._

The trailer honestly wouldn't make much of a difference it partly would have given the public more interest but they were going out of the way just to see the trailer because there wasn't much known about the film apart from some of the cast and that there was finally going to be a dark batman movie.

@ontologicallysteve77655 жыл бұрын
It's clear you weren't around in the summer of '89. Batman was *everywhere* and on *everything* . I was 10 years old. This movie made as much as it possibly could----- with or without a trailer of this caliber. In 1989 there was no internet. Back then, word of mouth was the best form of advertisement...and the words coming out of everyone's mouth sent people to the theaters in *droves* . I remember seeing (and standing) in lines that were wrapped around 3 city blocks-----just to see this movie for the second and third time. The trailer makes little difference and your logic is irrelevant. Not trying to be a jerk, it's just a fact.

Not quite sure how I didn't see this trailer earlier, have been looking for someone who's used the Nolan OST with the Burton films to no avail for quite some time. I really enjoyed it, I do agree that it may be a bit too long but I bet if you did one of these for Batman Returns it'd be close to perfection!

I wish they would have continued these series where as Joel Shcumacher destroyed Batman! Can someone tell me why this film's production is so confusing with the time period? Most of the costumes of the citizens are dress from 1940s to the dress of the present, which in this case 1989. Even the cars are mixed match. Didn't notice this until today.

This trailer, while very good, is a little misleading in that it implies that BATMAN will be a heavily sociopolitical film like TAXI DRIVER. It was somewhat like that, but once the Joker took over the story it became a full-blown popcorn film. It also implies that Vicki Vale joins Batman's crusade against the Joker, when in fact she is far more preoccupied with Batman himself and cooperates with Batman only reluctantly. And while the film would have been tremendous if Harvey Dent had been a major character (and in fact in the novelization he pretty much starts running the city after the Mayor suffers a nervous breakdown and Commissioner Gordon's men are hospitalized after the Joker poisons their coffee), that was sadly not so. Billy Dee Williams had the potential to be the near-equal of Aaron Eckhardt.
