From my understanding, the reason that Two-Face was never part of the '60s show was because the producers thought he was too gruesome a character for a family series. Apparently one of the ideas was to have him as a news reporter who became Two Face when a television exploded in his face, and the plan was have none other than Clint Eastwood playing him!

I heard something similar, about Clint Eastwood playing the TV reporter who becomes Two-Face. It was supposed to be an episode for Season 4, but the show was cancelled at the end of Season 3.

Another reason I heard actually came from Tommy Lee Jones, who played Two-Face in "Batman Forever". He said that it took him two hours in the makeup chair every morning, getting half his face covered with pieces of acid looking material and two hours to remove it.. Well, if they needed to do this in the late 90s, imagine how long it would take in the 60s to apply Two-Face make up to someone.

@@BATMAN-gh1nfThe show actually got picked up for Season 4 by another TV station. However, before this announcement, someone binned the "Batman" sets since it had been axed, and because the new station didn't want to pay to replace the sets, they just scrapped doing a 4th season and "Batman" remained axed.

I realize that William Shatner will be providing the voice of Two-Face in the upcoming animated movie, but I also think that Shatner would have done well with the live-action role back in the 1960's. He was a well-known actor at the time, and he gives different amounts of "over-the-top" performances that will work well for multiple personalities.

I know that the main reason for why they canned the Two-Face episode is that they thought that kids would find him too scary. You can really understand this when you consider that Clint Eastwood was originally planned to play the role of Two-Face. They actually also wanted The Scarecrow on the show too, but scrapped it for pretty much the same reason: too scary.

I've heard about this episode before; aside from the make-up constraints, I've also heard another reason the Two-Face episode never made it off the cutting room floor was because they felt the disfigured character might prove too frightening for kids, so they replaced him essentially with False-Face...whose mask and voice didn't make him much less creepy, so bang-up job there. In terms of casting, I've also heard Clint Eastwood was considered for the role, but that might be just a rumor. As for who I would pick: Christopher Lee. Because if Faerie Tale Theatre taught us anything, he wasn't afraid to be at least a little goofy, and if Hammer Horror taught us anything, it was that he was equally unafraid of make-up.

I heard when they where planning to have Clint Eastwood to play Two Face on the series. On that note, I've alway considered the movie Batman Forever to be somewhat of a homage to the Adam West series (makes it easier to watch...that and Kiss from a Rose) and I can't help but notice Tommy Lee Jones has a slight resemblance to Clint Eastwood so I can easily see how a live action Two Face would've worked on the show.

I know that in the original Batman quadrology, Two-Face was played by Tommy Lee Jones. However, if Tim Burton had directed Batman Forever, I think that this is how Two-Face would have been portrayed. 1)The good side of his face would have been Billy Dee Williams. The bad side? My best guess would be the late John Hurt. His voice would have been perfect.They could have managed to play the same role by only showing one side of Harvey’s face. 2) As for whenever he would have needed to face the camera directly, it would have been achieved by having the make-up crew mold half of Williams’ face to resemble that of Hurt’s face. And also both Billy Dee Williams and John Hurt would have spoken their lines in unison. 3) As for how would have Two-faces bad side look like, I was thinking something along the lines of scarred and bleached. Hey Bob (or was it Rob?), what do you think?

He could've been played by CLINT EASTWOOD of all people, but Two-Face was turned down because he would've been too gruesome for a family/children's show. At least, that's what I heard.

Hamilton was a very famous actor in the 1920's and 1930's , so his family would want royaties for his likeness. Cheif Ohara looks like him.The aunt harriet character would require royalties too. I liked the mad hatter character as he was in TV. He looks like one depiction in the comics of him. His character changed alot in the comics. The hat was the best feature.

Ohhh..I dunno... I think it WOULD have been awesome to see the Man-With-No-Name, as Harvey Two-Face Dent----years before Eastwood's first appearance as Dirty Harry. (Perhaps that's why in the 1992 Batman animated series, Richard Moll (Bull Shannon of "Night Court") voiced the "Big Bad Harve" side with a deep gravelly voice, scary enough to rival Kevin Conroy's Dark Knight crusader. "Go ahead, Bat-Punk, make my Knight! Heh-heh-heh!") And actually, what I heard was, Eastwood was all set to accept the role and play the part in Season 4, but the show was canceled after a poor run in Season 3. By the time the big Bat-Movies came along in the '90's, Eastwood was probably offered again, but by then he was too old and too busy directing, so fellow film cowboy Tommy Lee Jones got it. That's the way the coin flips.

From what I understand with regards to the hatter the show was emulating the "imposter mad hatter" which from 1956-1981 took the focus of the character away from the storybook classic and substituted it with just simple silly hat shenanigans. Suffice to say, it didn't last and DC decided to go back to the Wonderland theme (and mind control/fuckery), expanding it into the dark and twisted perversion of said universe we associate with the character today. It IS rather hypocritical if anyone on the show thought a wonderland themed bad guy (regardless of how light hearted or dark) was too silly for the 60s batman universe of all things.

+Archer Slam-BAM Where did that even COME from? Hmmm.... let's have a villain who's completely obsessed with eggs for no reason. Who should play him? I GOT IT! Get Vincent Price on the phone!! lol

Bobsheaux I am not even remotely sure, but I'm glad it happened. No one else could capture the cheesiness of the villain better than the man, himself. You can't deny that he gave us a beautiful messterpiece! XD

The art of Two-Face looks like Lyle Wagoner of Carol Burnett Show fame. he also did a screen test hoping to play Batman.

Y'know, with some edited footage, voice dubbing and new footage, it might be possible to recreate this episode. A frankenfilm. Though, no one could match Adam West's performance.

If they were going to do Two Faced in the 66th TV show it should have been Dean Martin .

I would wager, old chum, that the comic didn't get permission from the estate of the of the actress who played Aunt Harriet's likeness. That wouldn't be the first time that had happened in that series run.

It's not true about Batman operating soley in the daytime on the T.V. show. Even the first episode had scenes that took place at night. Did you forget about the scene at the disco, with that famous bat-dance? Robin was sitting in the batmoble watching Batman in the club, notice it was at nighttime. Adam West, may you rest in Bat-peace.

The real reason why they didnt do Two Face was because Two face's face was deemed too scarey for children.

I had heard that had the episode been made, two face would have been played by a young Clint Eastwood. that made me think, what other popular actors OF THE TIME would have made good batman villains. off the top of my head, I thought, either Boris Karloff or peter Lorre as the scarecrow, and Tina Louise (ginger from Gilligan's island) as poison ivy. what do you think.
@Bobsheaux
@Bobsheaux 8 жыл бұрын
+Kris Lundell I actually imagine someone like Don Knotts playing the Scarecrow. You know, someone legitimately NOT scary, so he'd HAVE to resort to mind-altering chemicals to make him scary. lol

+Bobsheaux I can see where you're going with that, sort of having Dr crane as the man behind the curtain to scarecrow's great and powerful oz. Like, through the episode, he used a costume and various illusions to get Gotham to take him seriously, and the fear has to make people see things like spiders, skeletons, at one point it could make people see a dragon. There could even be a slight reference to batman's origin (slight, remember, kids show from the 60s). Batman gets a dose of fear has, and sees a silouette of aman in a gangster outfit holding a gun for a few seconds, when he recovers and robin ask if he's alright, Batman say "it's nothing old chum....just a bad memory". And at the end, after Batman and robin shut down the machines spraying the fear has, and take down the rest of the illusions, in the final fight the so called "master of fear" is reveals to be a total goofus! of course it would still be surreal to hear the voice of, say barney fide coming out of a jack-o-lantern face:)

Granted, most of the episodes were during day time, there were some that were at night but they were indoors for most of the episode but a few of those had them doing there famous walk up the side of a bldg so star cameos could open windows just like you show in your video with Green Hornet, some were at night. So to say they never fought crime at night was wrong.
