I had the same problem/dilemma as I was hitting my teenage years I kind of thought that I was supposed to grow up and stop buying toys. I stopped buying toys around 17 but after I graduated from university I got back into collecting toys dc and marvel . Now 34 as a father I still buy a few toys !!

Awesome foray into the 90s, guys. I loved the Art Deco style of the show, but I also felt too old to be buying toys, so the only one had was Batman. I've got most of them now. I guess this was the only time a Batman line featured a full range of characters.

Kenner loved to make a hundred different variants of Batman in the 90's, but they still made great toys. My transitional period for toys was the summer Jurassic Park came out. I was going into 7th grade and I knew it wasn't "socially acceptable" to play with toys. I still bought the JP toys though, I just didn't let anyone know I collected them. Humorously, I remember going over to a new friends house in the fall and finding a ton of JP toys on the kitchen table. I asked him if they were his little brothers and he sheepishly admitted they were his. We had more in common than we realized and I guess there's lots of kids that would probably like to continue playing with toys instead of "growing up".

Great review!!! I too remember when I was at the age of still loving action figures but really to old to play with them like I use to. It was around the year these figures came out. Im a huge super powers fan and to me this is what took it's place for batman fans. Those are great figures. I think I have most of them. Congratulations.

Aw that transition period where you start to realize you're too old to play with toys. I remember feeling it when I was in a Kaybee Toys buying GI Joe stuff from the 1989 line. I didn't transition well from buying toys for play to buying them to display and collect.

Kenner was bought out by Hasbro, Incorporated in 1991 and as soon as they were bought, The Kenner Products Division of Hasbro started to change. By the 1990's Kenner was running high with the Batman Dark Knight Collection followed by 1993's Animated Series along with Jurassic Park and more but by 1995, Kenner was slowly going downhill for good as Batman Forever failed with terrible figures and the way Power Of The Force II started also had a negative impact on the Kenner company. By 1997, Kenner was high as it was their 50th year of business. 1997 came to be a great year with the pretty successful Batman And Robin line , along with The Lost World Jurassic Park and Star Wars Special Edition Figures and that year was pretty good for Kenner. But as 1997 ended 1998 came and was one of Kenner's worst years ever as Jurassic Park Chaos Effect had poor sales along with the end of Kenner Barman Animated Series lines and Power Of The Force II ended but the production. was also changing as by 1999, Kenner released Small Soldiers and soon in 1999, Hasbro went to Kenner and fired 420 employees including the Jurassic Park Design Team. Plans for JP3 were planned by Hasbro along with Star Wars Episode One. And by 2000, Kenner was shut down and the whole company was dead..

I was only able to own two Batman TAS figures as a child - Turbojet Batman and The Penguin, both of which were given to me for my birthday. I didn't care much for the Penguin figure but LOVED my Turbojet Batman. Sadly, I lost the yellow projectile that fired from the wrist launcher like a day or two after getting the figure. I'd eventually lose the jetpack too over time, but I still have the figure itself and is one of my most prized possessions because it was one of the last birthday gifts my mother gave me before she passed away.

3:53 my favorite episode is still The Man Who Killed Batman. Joker’s reaction to the death of his nemesis is utterly brilliant and I can recite his eulogy from memory. I Almost Had Him is really good too. As for capes I agree though I always go for ones with wires in them.

The 1989 Batman movie only had 3 figures and two vehicles: Batman, Joker, Bob the Goon, the Batmobile (which had no roof for some reason), and the BatWing. I would love to see an episode where you dive into this because the backstory there is really interesting.

The Kenner Batman:TAS figures were great. When you do eventually get to making this video, I think a lengthier one discussing the cartoon first is necessary, because the show was just SO well made; gorgeous 1940s style animation with Gothic Burton influence, well known actors doing voice overs, reimagined character origins, Harley Quinn, etc. Sooo good. Also, one figure missing from this collection is The Phantasm, the main villain from Batman: Mask of the Phantasm.

Although Kenner certainly decided to repaint Batman in the most ridiculous ways, it appears that they would at least try to produce some of the adversaries from the show and get them on the shelves. These days it's totally backwards. With each super hero movie, Hasbro will make dozens of variants of the super hero protagonist, but barely make any of the other characters. It must suck to be a kid these days.
