The one thing that bothers me about these challenge maps, and indeed the Arkham series combat in general, is that even after the thugs see you pound dozens of their friends and even giants three times their size, they still feel confident enough in their chances to smack talk you. You'd think after a while they'd lose their cool.

If anyone is struggling with this challenge: Level 1 (normal goons): Strike criticals mostly, just don't forget to counter from time to time. Level 2 (weapons drop): Keep up the criticals, wait for someone to pick up the stun stick and use the Special Combo Disarm and Destroy (Y + X). Use the Special Combo Takedown (Y + B) on the armored thug as soon as possible unless he's armed with a knife, in which case you take him out with the Blade Dodge Takedown. Level 3 (assassins): Take them out with two critical strikes, two counters, or a Blade Dodge Takedown. Level 4 (guns): Wait for a goon to open the weapons crate and use Disarm and Destroy (Y + X) on him when he picks a gun up. If you're quick enough to hit three critical strikes in time, Disarm and Destroy the shield. Level 5 (Mr. Sickle): This is a pretty easy way to cheese him. With a Special Combo available, roll (A, A) on his direction and hit him ONCE so Batman locks onto him and not the upcoming Titan or any other enemy, and THEN mash X. When you see someone attacking you (or Mr. Sickle himself), use the Special Combo Bat Swarm (X + A) and repeat. Again, hit him once and then start mashing X, that's just how Free Flow works. Level 6 (Titan): Gain a good position, evade (A, A + directional) if necessary, and use the Bat Swarm next to the Titan. Then, immediately ultra stun him and attack him continuosly, counterig anyone you see coming (or evade if it's a shield guy). Once you can perform a Special Combo, use the Bat Swarm to gain the last few hits to ride on the Titan. Hit a few thugs and press B for Titan Showckwave, and then immediately A for a Titan Charge. Perform a second Charge as soon as the Titan hits a wall and repeat two more times to knock him out. You will automatically get the three badges (1.000.000 points) upon completing Level 6 I hope this helps.

Amon Re batman is a bit slow comparing to other characters. I still can't complete this map. For other characters, just keep hitting x they are fast enough to let you stay away from countering lmao

Okay, so I literally finished the challenges for City today, and I have definitely noticed some things. One, Batman might seem like he would have the easiest time, due to having way more moves than the other three, but I found that his took me the second longest. Catwoman being the only other one that took longer. Two, no matter what character it is, make use of your instant takedowns on the tougher enemies. Enemies like Taser, Shield, Knives, Armored, Armed, or Ninja should be taken down IMMEDIATELY, to avoid anything messing up your combo. Three, when the one armed lieutenant comes out, attack him as soon as possible. If while you're attacking him, an enemy tries to hit you, do NOT counter. The animation will take too long and the lieutenant will most likely end your run before you even get the animation done. This includes Blade Takedowns. The only enemy you should attack during the lieutenant phase is him and any goon that grabs a gun. If you get shot, it clears the ladder and you might as well start over. If you do this correctly, you should knock out the lieutenant right as the TITAN begins his charge, thus causing him to stop right in front of you. Four, as soon as the lieutenaut is down, it's TITAN time. Stun him once but DON"T USE THE SUPER STUNNER RIGHT AWAY. Just once and then counter at the people trying to swing at you(don't worry, there will DEFINITELY be someone attacking you at this time). Repeat this until you think you have a safe distance between you and any punching goons. If you have to, use the Square and X combo move. That'll stun anyone nearby and it should give you plenty of time to do the Super Stunner. At that point, SPAM THE TITAN WAVE. It stuns everyone in your radius and most enemies are taken out by just a few of these. When he kicks you off, repeat this process until he's done. If you haven't gotten hit ONCE by this point, congratulations. You just got 3 medals on the hardest Combat map in the DLC/Return to Arkham bundle. Five, once you beat this with Batman and Catwoman, Robin and Nightwing become superbly easy. In fact, when I got to Nightwing, I was nervous at first, but ended up getting ALL 3 MEDALS FIRST TRY. It was probably luck, but I don't care. I still did it. Six, forget your gadgets. No, really. All they do is build your variation bonus. In this challenge, the amount of points you get for them is not worth the risk of potentially dropping the current combo. Seven(Holy shite this is a lot), despite what you might think. Despite what it genuinely feels like sometimes, YOU DO NOT NEED TO BEAT THIS WITH A PERFECT COMBO. The ladder isn't determined by a single combo. A combo of 20 is worth the same as two 10 hit combos on the ladder. If you mess up your combo, but your ladder is still full, DO NOT RESTART. Keep going. You still can get the ladder bonus. I hope this essay helps some of you guys out in your quest. Happy fighting!

Years later and it's only more emphasized how broken the games controls are when demanding you get this high a score. Everything is fine until random thugs cha-cha slide across the room. Or you try to use a combo attack but it auto locks to knife dodging, AND uses up your combo attack. Or trying to party an enemy but the game deciding you're too far away, so you drop combo. 10/10 bullshit in a 10/10 game.

After playing this game from the 360 to return to Arkham, I decided to replay this game but not for the story but for the challenges to see if I could actually finish them all like I did with Arkham Asylum. Now, this is the one challenge maps which I struggle with and I am thinking of coming back to this one and just do a different challenge maps as a different character. At first I said wow, shit, this challenge is fun. But after a while I got hit outta nowhere and I realized the longer you play it, the harder it gets just like the challenge map in Arkham Asylum.

ARGH!!! OMFG I'm so pissed!! I got to exactly x218, the only time I got close in at least 30 attempts, and Batman punched air instead of the stunned Titan in the last set of attacks to take it out. I fucking HATE Joker's Carnival and it's ridiculous system: get a super huge 1-in-a-million combo and automatically get enough points to win! But you have only exactly enough time to possibly do that, and if your combo breaks for any reason at any time it was all a huge waste of time! Fun! This is the ONLY challenge map I haven't finished for Batman out of ALL Arkham games; almost 2 hours into one fucking map, it looks like it ain't happening.

Work on it with Nightwing next, as he feels the most like Batman out of the other characters. Then, try Catwoman, as she is fairly easy to do this map with. Then turn your attention to Robin. He's no fun at all on this and is the most difficult to beat this map with by far.

the bonus just refers to the increased reflex time you get at 12 hits without using a special combo. so basically just go around punching dudes all over the map without hitting one of the special moves, that way your score can get really high

he best and easiest way to get a high score on this is to get the freeflow bonus and just keep puching everything with critical strikes. Use combo takedowns on the armoured guys and destroy riot shields and stun batons. I got 2.8 million within the first hour of owning this DLC using this method its way easier and way more reliable than going for the variation bonus

Easiest way to do this is at the top level you get 75 seconds and 500k points, but if you don't manually bank it And keep taking out guys, it will reach its "max" and bank automatically. When it banks automatically you get 1 million points and 150 seconds, I think. You Just have to be perfect until then.

For DLC they should've done each villain with their own challenge map. If not every villain, the lesser villains without a main story part in BAC(scarecrow, killer croc, etc) Especially "Ivy's Lair" where she has some people/heroes under her control. And a "Harley Quinn's Revenge Challenge" to commemorate her newfound villain independency+status. She would be so cool to fight. It would SELL! Right?!

I see you're going for 12x variation combo and 5x gadget combo. The combined bonus from those scores is only 9,000, which is insignificant compared to the 1,000,000 points earned by maxing out your score gauge. Since the level increases by number of blows dealt, not by points scored, you're better off spending your time doing quick strikes rather than spending time at the start using every move. If you stick to this method, you'll max out the gauge without running out of time like you did.

When you have a high af combo , it's always worth to perform Blade Dodge Takedown because it gives you x100 points. His max combo being 288 (last hit being that last one when the screen blacked out , assuming it's a critical strike , which it is , he gets x2 more from x286.) 288x100= 28800 points ;)

Variety isn't important in this map. It just makes it complicated and in general just a lot harder. Keep it simple and attack swiftly, you want to make sure you are landing criticals left and right by tapping the strike button only once for each enemy. When you get your free flow, you can counter less as batman moves faster. Aside from the criticals and the free flow, there will always be a time where you'll have to break it. You want to use a takedown on the armored ones to get rid of them quick, and dismantle knives, stun batons, and guns in order to make the game easier and have a lesser chance of the thugs being able to land a hit. And you want to try not to lose your combo. When you get into the flow and start noticing patterns in the AI of this game, kicking their ass is as easy as breathing. I scored 8,000,000 something with this tactic 😁🤧

Yeah, i am PC player, games and consoles are pretty expensive in my country. The biggest catch in this game is to not bank, after you reach level 6, fight for a little longer and you will gain 1 million points and 2:45 minutes. And you can lose combo, just not get hit.

Just placed 849 on the world Xbox leaderboard today. Abuse the freeflow focus and never use specials. Beat downs, blade dodge takedowns, ground takedowns, and aerial redirects to get extra points. I don’t have the FF focus gadget upgrade so I was able to use my gadgets without losing focus. Could’ve done better so I’ll try again but this is definitely the strategy for me.

Levels 1,and 2 are basic bad guys.What you'll want to do on levels 1 and 2 is keep striking from enemy to enemy,and avoid the urge to use counters (Unless necessary) and take downs.You get more points off critical attacks (punches,kicks,batarangs) for some reason.Level 3,simple do the same as levels 1 and 2,but youll want to dodge this time by pressing AA or Square square.Dodge,strike,dodge,strike.Keep doing this and only use take downs on enemies with armor,and you'll be good.Hope I helped
