I think it's dumber than that. See, Batman is who Bruce actually IS as a person. "Bruce Wayne", the face, is the actual mask he wears to keep up public appearances. It's no different than how real life murderers always came across like "good people" in person before they were revealed for what they were, and people understand that nice persona was just a facade. But here? For some reason these criminals think they now have a left up on them, and that makes no sense. He struck THAT much terror into the heart of Gotham's criminal underground by only playing as Batman 50% of the time and having to share the other 50% with Bruce Wayne. It's rather interesting how the persona of Batman is used to strike fear into the hearts of criminals. People thought he was something supernatural and even demonic. Now that they know he's Bruce Wayne, I'd be even more terrified. A human with a load of money was able to be THAT TERRIFYING; imagine how capable he would be if he had powers.

Batman Begins perfectly explained this. As a man, as Bruce Wayne, he can be manipulated, he can be broken (by means of kidnapping and torturing his loved ones). As a myth, a symbol, he can be incorruptible, because his enemies don't know his weak spots. Although he seems nonchalant about his identity reveal as Bruce Wayne, it is actually his ultimate blow in the gut and the reason why he has to execute the Knightfall Protocol, sooner or later, so that those people closest to him can be safe.

Kackman316 the reason I think he did the knightfall protocol at the end of the game after getting 100% is because he had a plan. When his identity was found out not long till Nightwing, Robin, Red Hood, Oracle, Batgirl (Stephanie Brown), all their identities come into the lime light then his family is threatened. He needs the Batman to die and something better to be born, something crueler, he needed a new myth that's what that was at the end of the knightfall video. It was him in a new suit with new tactics

Thing is he's not terrifying anymore. Before they weren't even sure if he was even human. For all they knew his prowess came from actual super powers. I mean how can an ordinary human being possibly do what he does unless he's literally something else? Superman, Wonder woman, the Flash are what they are because they have actually have super powers. But since they now know that the demon they've been terrified of for over a decade now is indeed just a Man like them, it's not the same anymore. Batman was monster on the side of good. What I don't understand is the criminal's confidence in knowing who Bruce is, or more accurately, who Batman pretends to be. See, Batman is the real person. Bruce is the mask.
