Batman vs Scarecrow: the man who uses fear benevolently vs the man who uses fear malevolently. Basically Scarecrow is a shadow archetype(among his very long list of shadow archetypes)to Batman, as both use psychological tactics to scare their enemies, but Batman avoids using it on innocents, whilst Scarecrow doesn't care who is on the victinity.

Well, Batman was infected by the Joker Toxin. Essentially, he was becoming the comic version of the Batman Who Laughs. The Fear Toxin forced him to face that fear, face the Joker one last time. Sure, no final fight with Scarecrow but we got Kevin Conroy redoing the "I am Vengeance" speech from the original Animated Series.

I love this sequence. It removes the fear of batman original anonymity, but creates a whole new one. Yes we know the bat is Wayne, but the amount of fear toxin crane dosed him with, and this would be visible in his eyes, facial expressions and speaking, it took him to his limit, becoming joker but then as Joker, he gets scared again and is taken back over by the bat, and purely the bat, no human, no Wayne, just the freakish fearless terrifying Bat, hence the third dose bring either non effective or strengthening the bat even more. Yes we know he is Bruce Wayne, but who is this new Bruce Wayne, he is simply and purely Batman, the scariest version.

In the end it wasn't Scarecrows toxin that do the trick. Joker was already in his blood. In a chemical way Joker mixed his dna with Bruce already. What fear toxin did was just to accelerate the process, skyrocketing the fear of Batman becoming the Joker. Not stopping it.. That's why we first see Batman becoming the Joker in his mind, this is acceleration, not stopping.. :) In fact those final scenes SHOWS us the incredible willpower of Batman, Bruce Wayne, not that fear toxin helping him. :) Fear toxin on the contrary elevated Bruce's fear to become the Joker, in his mind he went through being Joker, and HE ALONE discovered the true fear of Joker being forgotten, NOT Toxin.. All toxin did was to shorten the time of transformation and intensify the fear of Bruce surfacing tenfold or even maybe more and what we see here is the incredible willpower of Bruce Wayne even overcoming that much fear all alone. Because Bruce was faced to fully embrace his true fear and live through it in his mind and BECAUSE he didn't give in to his OWN FEAR and emerged victorious he ALSO discovered Joker's fear. That's the whole thing, it has nothing to do with toxin helping Batman etc. Quite the contrary in fact. Toxin made his chemical situation far worse forcing him to FULLY EMBRACE his inner fear to become the Joker. That's not helping Bruce or stopping the Joker lol. That only HELPED because Bruce willingly decided to face his own fears head on before even getting into that truck surrendering to Scarecrow, he knew what was going to happen, he was willing to fight back the influence. Remember Batman saying "this is not going to end as you think it will Crane.." to Scarecrow after he arrived to Arkham Asylum? Bruce was ready to face his own true fear at that moment and we literally see in a metophor that Batman's willpower ovecoming two different chemical hormonal, amygdala based substances, we are witnessing THE IMPOSSIBLE BEING OVERCAME BY SHEER WILLPOWER. There is a spiritual story telling here also.. For someone to fully overcome their fears they have to fully embrace those fears to be able to understand the nature of fear. Batman in his comics never truly understand Joker. He once tried that and he was nearly going mad. This is the first time he truly fully embraced Joker's perspective hence he understood him, and by doing so he first discovered his own fear, overcome it, than discovered Batman's fear and than make Joker realize his own fear, done. Fear toxin was just an amplifier, fastening the process. And Batman was full aware of this beforehand. Now do you realize how incredible a willpower, bravery, strategy he displayed and how he was also in control, not Scarecrow, not Joker, but Batman. :)

Dr Crane should not be underestimated. He's much more badass now. He's also very good in one on on combat with his mastery of jiu jitsu, and the like. Also scarecrow has his sickle he has mastered. He's a great escape artist too. And for a time thanks to Penguin and a female chemist Dr. Crane could transform into a monster called the Scarebeast. As much as he hates Batman there is someone else he loathes, Selena Kyle. Catwoman and Scarecrow go way back with their own separate rivalry.

I think Scarecrow might have just saved Batman unintentionally. I'm not entirely sure if the fear toxic shows the fears based on the body or based on state of mind, but if it's the latter then him giving "Batman" another dose at 14:27 was the main reason Batman recovered. Since the Joker was "taking over", it was his fears the toxin presented, Since his fear is the Bat, Batman used this to his advantage to mentally kick out Joker. We already fought him in asylum, and he's never the fighting type, it makes more sense to have this instead since it fits his character

Scarecrow isn't really a fighter. Although he is skilled in martial arts and CAN fight, his thing is psychology and manipulation. He prefers to attack a person's mind, rather than their body. This is fitting for his character.

Scarecrow should be in the next batman. The plot needs an Arkam insider for the joker and riddler to escape and turn Dent. Movie can take place one year later, Halloween. We need a good acid trip sequence for this noir. A subtle Ivy and Court of Owls is perfect for a 3rd film.

Both the nightmare scenarios (Joker killing people and being trapped in the dark tomb were respectively his and Bruce's way of getting control over Bruce's body) When Scarecrow injected Bruce with fear toxin, it gave Joker control over his body. Thats why Joker was strapped in place of Bruce when he mocked Scarecrow, to symbolise that it was his body now (but it was only mentally speaking, in reality, Bruce was taunting Scarecrow and laughing manically, which confused him and pretty much the entire world) but then Scarecrow injected him again and so the gas now affected Joker, allowing Bruce to regain control. My point is Scarecrow was a horrible main antagonist. Not only because he didnt fight the hero but also because he was the one who saved the day by unintentionally giving Bruce the strength to overcome Joker and then, him. He was better in Asylum. I mean sure, the voice and the costume was weird but atleast he had a better role.

@@Thecrowseye While fighting Joker in that final sequence you were fighting Scarecrow's toxine and conquering Batman's fear. Scarecrow isn't a villain that fights physically, it's very narrow minded to think that every fight should be physical to be called "fight". That final sequence against the Joker was the boss psychological fight against Scarecrow's toxine, because that's Scarecrow's way of inflicting harm to Batman.
