Bale's I'M BATMAN is to this day, the greatest I'M BATMAN in cinema history, period. His voice in Begins was perfection - dark, strong, secretive, powerful. He also mixed it with an amazing, powerful whisper when the crook yells: 'Where are you?!' and Bat hanging just behind him says: 'Here!'. Bale delivered these lines with pure genius. This whole scene is brilliant. The best Batman introduction in movies, period. And yes, in later installments maybe Bale's voice was a little too strong in some moments but it's coz he was losing it so he had to force it more, but overall his voice was absolutely great throughout the Trilogy. In the scene in DK when Bat is at the scene of the murders together with Gordon - his voice, is perfection. I just love this Trilogy.

I think the close-up fighting works in this scene. This whole sequence of introducing the Batman was made like a horror film to demonstrate his power to terrorize criminals like an otherworldly being. Erratic shots plus close-ups incite tension without revealing the full picture, making Batman in this case appear more dangerous, like a horror monster. And hazing his appearance before grabbing Falcone makes the impact of “I’m Batman!” even stronger.

Its funny how back in Batman 1989, Michael Keaton came up with the "I'm Batman" line. And then, not even 20 years later Christian Bale is using it in Batman Begins.
@hawksfan88703 жыл бұрын
What are you talking about? Micheal Keaton did come up with the “I’m Batman” line. He said it himself. The original line for that scene script in 1989 was “I’m vengeance” but then during the scene, Micheal Keaton decided to say “Im Batman” instead because he thought It sounded better. And luckily, Tim Burton loved it. And went along with it.
@hawksfan88703 жыл бұрын
@ill speedylaunch But I didn’t say Bale copied Keaton’s line, did I? All I said is that it’s funny that Bale used that same exact line as Keaton but in a different Batman era. And now that line is just so iconic!
@hawksfan88703 жыл бұрын
@ill speedylaunch Yeah he’s saying it 20 years later which is kinda ironic considering it wasn’t much of a popular line back then, but now because of Bale, it has became more personified and popular. But I never said he copied him. I just said he’s saying the line not copying it.
@hawksfan88703 жыл бұрын
@ill speedylaunch Yeah, he’s using it because they told him to say it. Why are we even arguing about this?

I just appreciate that Christopher Nolan directly tips his hat to Tim Burton's original take on Batman with Michael Keaton as Batman. This scene was, if not a shot for shot duplicate of that scene in Batman, it was a very close reimagining of that scene. The big differences? In Batman Begins, one of the thugs screams "Where are you?" and Tom Wilkinson as Carmine Falcone yells "what the hell are you?" To which the reply was "I'm Batman". In the original Batman with Michael Keaton, one thug asks "Who are you?" and Keaton replies "I'm Batman." So that was the biggest difference between the two scenes from each movie. And since Chris Nolan was basically rebooting the series, it made sense that this scene would be a strong nod to Tim Burton's original vision.

This scene is all the more gratifying to the audience coming long after the scene where Bruce confronts Falcone in the restaurant where he is all powerful and he lectures Bruce about “you fear what you don’t understand” The look of terror on Falcone’s face and seeing his 🦷 fly on the headbutt is such a satisfying resolution to his demise.

I love that the focus is on the bad guys and the terror Batman is instilling in them, which btw is some excellent acting. Batman is barely seen and is just a blur, even in the epic 1vMany fight. If this was a modern Superhero film, it would be Batman's point of view easily clearing through an army of these faceless random bad guys with the focus on his badass fighting skills. Very mindless filmmaking

If I remember correctly, he lost his voice for three weeks after filming and didn't want to do it again afterwards. So for the following films they fixed his voice post production. I may be wrong or at least have some of the details mixed up. If any knows for sure feel free to correct me.
