BATMAN: Heart of Ice - Full Movie (2023 Fan-Film)

BATMAN: Heart of Ice takes place two years after the events of BATMAN: Under the Red Hood (2021 Fan Film). After returning from hiatus, Bruce Wayne (AKA Batman) has entered a new prime as Gotham’s caped crusader.
When investigating a local killing, Batman finds that Mr. Freeze has committed his first series of murders. Batman must race against his former apprentice Jason Todd (AKA Red Hood/Robin) in order to stop the two of them from killing each other, and taking more “innocent” lives.
Written and Directed by Will Reed. Based on the storylines by Paul Dini and DC Comics.

Genuinely I think this is the best fan channel out there. The lighting, acting, it’s all outstanding. I just finished under the red hood and there are so many amazing improvements compared to that criticism. It really shows how you all listen to your audience. This should have so so so much more views and likes, the whole channel in general is incredibly underrated. 10/10 fan film. I enjoyed every second of this film. The acing from the cast felt natural and wasnt forced which is very refreshing and not commonly seen in fan films. The costumes/outfits looked amazing, accurate, and really high quality; espeicially the batman suit. The cinematography was simply astonishing. In my opinion the camera work is what really brought this film together and made it feel like a big screen movie; from the different angles captured during the fight scene, the perspective shifts, the vivid image quality, etc. Such a difficult skill to master but you made it look like a walk in the park and truly raised the bar for what fan films CAN and SHOULD look like. The background score and sound effects were masterfully chosen and matched each scene perfectly, evoking the right emotions and hyping the action scenes adequately. In addition, the different settings throughout the film where great (the prison, wayne manor, the bar) and the cliff hanger at the end has me excited to see what you produce next. Keep up the great work!! 👏

I like it. Did you know that the guy who invented Batman, Bill Finger was inspired by Odysseus (The Iliad and The Odyssey) - so the Greatest Detective was inspired by History’s Smartest Warrior-King. Odysseus himself was an incredible close quarters combatant and his longbow was so massive only a handful of people could draw it all the way back. As part of his challenge on reclaiming his kingdom he shot an arrow through the end handle rings of a dozen battle axes and it is understood that Odysseus was ambidextrous, as is Batman.

Well a lot of pros about this film. But also a lot of cons. Pros: great cinematography, and shot very well. I really enjoyed the scene between Bruce and Lucious well acted. Special effects were great for a fan film. Better than some big budget Hollywood films these days. Mr. Freezes monologue at the end was great. Superbly done. Cons: Clumsy storyline and the film suffered from Raimi Spider-Man 3 syndrome. It Tried putting too many things into the story line. It was hard to distinguish what the actual focal point of the film was. But for the most part I really enjoyed the portrayal of the characters. Just too much going on with too many characters in too little time. Overall 6.5 out of 10. Acting was great but the storyline for me was to get past. I look forward to the next chapter though.

I SERIOUSLY enjoyed this! Riddler's meltdown was particularly enjoyable! Nothing against the actor playing Freeze, but I found myself on a second view overdubbing his voice with Arnold (in a non-comedic way) and man, was it fun! Bruce/Batman was fantastic though the tats kind of initially were distracting. Your Batman... this may be the first truly scary Batman I've ever seen. I saw that guy coming for me I'd poop myself!

Not bad. One thing about these fan films even Spiderman Lotus is they’re mostly shot at night I get production costs is less of a burden at night but gosh they’re hard to see I’m squinting my eyes half the time. Costume is good. Mask and boots are a little loose. I’d use Clark Bartram’s Batman in Dead End as a model of how you want the mask to be. I like the white contacts that needs to be done more and the voice scrambler is good. Can we please stop making Joker some back alley dope addict dirty bum with make up? That needs to stop.

The, plot, makes, zero, sense. Mr. Freeze is being used as a weapon by a recently revived Riddler to get revenge on Red Hood and then Batman. To do this he.... has Freeze slowly work his way from hurting people up to killing so it lands on the 1 year anniversary of the accident that made him Mr. Freeze? What!? Batman will notice this and does. The Riddler at one point creates a program that literally cripples Waynetek when a safe is opened by Batman, so why not expose or even better frame Bruce Wayne and take his fortune leaving Batman completely exposed!? Why use Freeze at all? Why is Freeze doing this you ask, well because. No that's it, Riddler has his wife but she's not in danger and Freeze can come and go as he pleases and it's shown that the Riddler had zero recourse if he decided to pick up his wife and leave. After Batman injects himself with a deus ex machina drug he beats Freeze by punching his fish bowl a bunch and then saving Red Hood from the actual quite literal Saw trap he's in. When did the Red Hood get kidnapped? Who knows, he was there the same time as Batman was knocked out by Freeze and saved by Gordon - which I thought he was saved by Hood - so it really doesn't make sense that he would get kidnapped somehow and the elderly Gordon fought Freeze off _and_ carried a fully suited Batman to safety. Best part: Batman saves Freeze with the wonder drug and saves Nora with Freeze's suit saying he will save them both, then after a few scenes that add Clayface because fan service, it cuts to Freeze in jail saying how he will take revenge on Batman and Gotham for taking Nora away from him and they threw in a line from Batman and Robin because, fan service. _The very next scene_ is Bruce Wayne talking to Barbara Gordon about how the cure for both Freeze _and_ Nora are coming along and that they'll both be okay. What is this writing?? I was gonna give this movie the benefit of the doubt until it crapped itself. How did this happen? The beginning isn't any better. The opening scene is beyond confusing and for some reason throughout the movie, the camera goes in for a close up on Bruce's eyes to show that his irises are white like they are in the suit. I thought this was going to be a payoff at some point, but no, it meant nothing. And to top it off there's a super edgy scene with Batman and Joker droppin' f-bombs at each other. Yyyeaaaahh.... This movie is a confused mess and I don't understand why people are praising it.

This is a very thorough breakdown and I really appreciate that, but there seems to be some misconceptions about the story I would like to clarify. MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD FOR ANYONE READING. Riddler has not been controlling Freeze for a year. Ra's revives riddler not long after the events of Under the Red Hood, our last fan film. It takes Riddler quite a bit of time to recover and plan a new scheme for revenge against Batman and Red Hood. Riddler's plan is to use Freeze to do his dirty work while he baits Batman and Red Hood one of his final "games". His goal is to humiliate and beat Batman mentally and socially, in order to destroy his credibility, then once he has defeated Batman, to expose him as Bruce Wayne as the final dig. Once Riddler's plan has failed, he tells everyone Bruce is Batman as a hail merry. Because Batman knew Riddler knows his secret identity, he plans to have Clayface impersonate Bruce Wayne whenever Riddler is arrested. Riddler could indeed let the world know Batman is Bruce Wayne at any point, but Batman knows that Riddler's main goal is to create spectacle, and that if he had revealed Bruce's identity earlier, many would see it as a derranged conspiracy, or simply a fake since Riddler is a lunatic and supposed to be dead. Riddler often uses other villains and criminals to do his dirty work for him. This is no different for him to manipulate and blackmail Victor to do all of the brute work he could never do, while also misleading the GCPD and Batman into thinking Freeze has finally snapped. Riddler does not create a system that cripples Wayne Tech. He infects Fox's program directly, and Batman stops him before he can get into any Wayne Tech information. Also Freeze could never "pick up Nora and leave". Riddler had been keeping her imprisoned this entire time without Freeze knowing where she was. Riddler is actively holding Nora hostage, threatining her life if Freeze does not listen to his every command. After Riddler's plan of capturing Red Hood works, he has Freeze bring back Red Hood for the final test against Batman. Freeze could never save Nora, as she was never available to him, and if he had freed her he would have no tools to keep her alive. This is what makes Batman's serum made by Fox so important. It does not cure Nora or Victor, it simply holds them over until they are able to undergo treatment immediately. The serum Batman used on himself was also used to avert the risk of poisoning in combat, not cure someone who already has the disease. In the scene where Freeze confronts Red Hood and Batman, Red Hood fights off Freeze while Gordon helps, eventually getting Batman out of the situation after Freeze captures Red Hood during Batman's blackout. Gordon, with the help of his daughter Barbara, are more than capable of transporting Bruce back to Oracle's tower. If Alfred can do it, Gordon can absolutely do it. As far as Freeze turning on Batman. Batman has still imprisoned Victor, and has likely placed Nora back into Cyrosleep for her own safety. This effectively leaves Freeze in the exact position he was in with Riddler (in his mind anyways) causing him to resent Batman, and seeing him as yet another obstacle in the way of him and Nora's safety. Freeze is imprisoned and very ill. Like in the comics, this causes him to not think clearly, and to be a serious threat to anyone in his way. Bruce mentions in the next scene that Nora and Victor will be okay, because Bruce, Barbara, and Fox, are actively working to cure them, even still. Batman's eye contacts are also not apart of his cowl. He can remove them whenever he pleases, but often does not when he immediately takes off the cowl. It is mostly a stylistic choice, but also a technical decision as Bruce uses those contacts in many of his investigations, and to occasionally hide an extra layer of his identity. As far as the mature rating goes, many DC and Batman comics have mature versions of the characters that use heavy language. Personally, it does not make sense to me that criminals, murderers, and cops, in the worst city in America, don't use language. They obviously do. Anyways, I hope this cleared some of the air, and thank you so much for watching and leaving your breakdown. It is really appreciated, thank you so much!

How would I even begin to know that 1, it was not only the second movie that you made and 2, that you'd be using story from that movie in this one? I never said Riddler was controlling Freeze, I said he was using him, which you yourself confirm: "Riddler often uses other villains and criminals to do his dirty work for him." which you still didn't explain. All you yourself said was that Riddler is holding is wife. How, why? What is preventing Freeze from picking up his wife and leaving if he can easily kill a room full of people _and_ beat Batman until he has the deus ex drug? That was the point I was making, and the plot point you never made clear. It doesn't matter if Riddler "uses villains" you still need to explain the how and why of it through exposition or by showing us. You did neither. She was in a cell that wasn't even closed. How are we supposed to know the Riddler shut down only one computer in one specific location? Considering nothing is explained about Fox and all I had to go on was what I knew about Fox outside of this film, I assumed it was the entirety of Wayne Tech because you gave me nothing else. How else was I supposed to know? Why *not* just shut down all of Wayne Tech if he can do that? That is the better plot! That was my point! Not the convoluted mess that it currently is. You still didn't explain why Freeze gradually escalated up to his one year anniversary of the accident. Did Riddler tell him to do that? Did he do it on his own? Beyond finding the safe, the note, and the tablet what did the Riddler do? What if Freeze went somewhere else? Batman found that by chance, so would the Riddler made sure to keep up with Freeze wherever he went, or made him place stuff where he went? Because it's not really explained or shown. What final test against Batman? Fighting Freeze? Not dying? Beating up Riddler? What final test? He didn't do anything. If Alfred can do it, Gordon can.... Based on what? Your film? Comics? What the hell are you basing this on? Because you saying that means nothing; people don't know what you're thinking. That outside knowledge means nothing, especially considering Alfred isn't even in the film. Good god.... Freeze taking Hood makes no sense if Gordon got away with Batman. Gordon, as an older man, was able to fight off Freeze _and_ carry a 300 pound man while the Red Hood _couldn't_ get away? How does that make any sense when they were literally right next to each other? The scene just cuts to black with zero explanation from Gordon or anyone. I don't care about the eyes being white; make 'em blue, I don't care. It makes no sense that there's a close-up on them several times indicating importance or possible plot element to have it turn out to be absolutely nothing. It was frustrating for no reason. Clayface was fan service and made no sense. Why would he help Batman? How did Batman know exactly where he was within that very very small time window _and_ make him do what he wanted to do _and_ then make him leave town never revealing to *anyone* what he just did giving Clayface a huge inordinate amount of leverage against him? Because plot. You could've put Jason Todd in the Batsuit, or thought of something else. You did it for fan service. No-- Freeze knowing that he and his wife would be cured and still wanting revenge, for being... helped, makes no sense, at all. If that wasn't just a genuine mistake, it was a terrible story choice. It makes no sense. Okay... "in the comics" the only time Freeze stops actually caring and vows that kind of revenge is when Nora actually dies or is slighted to the point of nearly fatal injury. If he and she were to actually be cured like that, he would stop. This has happened a few times throughout a few runs unless he was literally forced; minus outliers. I do not care about the justifications for your "mature rating". Your Batman and Joker banter was cringe. Snider's was cringe, too. There are probably ways to do it right, but your way was not it. Why was Vicki Vale at the party at the end? A reporter at a party completely filled with the Court of Owls? For who knows how long? That means she either saw people put on masks seeing a generous amount of the court members or they knowingly let her in as a reporter making them dumb. She would be dead either way, except they let her walk. On top of that, Bruce throwing a party at his own house with nothing but the court members. They are made up of some of Gotham's wealthiest elites, but every single person that has some money that lives in Gotham is on the court. So, Bruce just managed to invite every single Owl member by happenstance _and_ Vicki Vale? Okay. The beginning also made no sense. Everyone thinks Bullock's dead, but he's wandering around with cops at a crime scene for some reason? It's really confusing. I understand, thoroughly, that you wanted to make a cool Batman movie. You obviously put time, blood, effort, and money into it. I'm not saying this out of malice. Your plot is just a mess.
