I see elements of BAV's Riddler Challenge videos in the way you approach each challenge. However, your approach is a little easier to follow and replicate if there's inclination to do so whereas BAV's is harder to replicate because of the strategy he implements and how quickly he dispatches enemies in his videos. You're both very good at these though. I do okay on my own but I don't approach these with speed since I don't really have much of a desire to claim spots on the leaderboards. I do love watching these speedruns though. It's always impressive.

Great work! Keep it up! Btw +The Arkham Channel, is there any noticeable difference in framerate/performance in the challenge maps from your experience? From what I know, the game doesn't run at a locked 30 but actually has an unlocked framerate; does the framerate get noticeably higher in closed areas like challenge maps or does it still run at more or less 30 like in the main game? It's hard to tell from the videos, with KZbin's compression as always being not exactly ideal for video game recordings.

Hi there, trflk! Good question. Return to Arkham City runs perfectly outside the open world map, which means, the challenge maps do not have any FPS drops. The only issues you can find are in the actual city.

Don't get me wrong, these speedruns are nothing short of amazing. This guy is probably the best player I've ever seen of the Batman games. The only problem is that the average dork like myself could never replicate what he does in these videos. So while they are very impressive speed runs, these videos aren't usually very effective at helping us find a strategy to get the 3 medals for completing the map. I wish I was as good as this guy, lol.

What i dont get is why Robin's ballistic armor takes damage even when the shield is open. Does the shield only dull the blow or what?

It's not taking damage. When Robin's shield is up, the ballistic armor indicator temporarily is displaying the shield's armor level. I know in Harley Quinn's Revenge they display a shield icon instead, but for some reason in challenge maps they use the same armor display you would have for ballistics. Try it out sometime if you can. Deliberately stand still with his shield up, take a few shots, then put the shield down and you'll see your body armor is perfectly fine. The shield, meanwhile, will "recharge" when not being used.

For instance: Tossing a smoke pellet into a crowd of henchmen normally reduces you to doing one stealth takedown at a time, but if you throw a freeze grenade at one guy and line it up (it's pretty easy to do) then you'll be able to do a double takedown. If there are four guys in the cloud and you're fast enough, you can perform two double takedowns in the time it takes before the cloud has dissipated. Just gotta be quick with the ice grenade quick-fire.

@@Hauptseite Oh I get what you're trying to say. It's a nice idea, will try it sometimes. How about double ledge takedown though? (Robin's Friends Fly Free on Meltdown Mayhem extreme comes to mind) Unless I'm taking advantage of the enemy spawn location at the beginning of the level, I could never get it to work with a smoke pellet, even when theyre so close to each other. Maybe double takedown is doable but not double ledge. Any ideas?

​@@phi_deltaeffect Try to set them up by using the remote control shuriken. Knock them towards the ledge (one with a railing, of course) and keep them looking the opposite way. Once they're right up against the railing together, drop a smoke pellet right in the middle or slightly ahead of them and your intended location. It can be tricky to get that medal on any map unless exploiting spawn positions or AI patrol paths, so some experimentation might be necessary to find a good general strategy for any point in the game. Once you get a good idea on how to do it anywhere, anytime, with minimal error then you can pull it off easier in challenge maps when necessary. Silently taking a guy out on narrow walkways is another good technique. Once they go to check on the KO'd punk, they'll naturally collect around there. Doesn't work against Tyger guards though since they don't check their wounded like the thugs do. Less bothered by having lost a man, I guess. In Meltdown Mayhem extreme there are quite a few guys roaming around the place. You don't want to get caught hanging on the ledge when some bozo is roaming the ground floor. Best to take out the armored thug and sniper first. Use extinguishers to your advantage so you can hold onto your smoke pellet for as long as possible. It's one of the most potent gadgets in your arsenal. Also, practice knocking armored thugs off ledges with the remote control shuriken. I like to start by using that on the armored goon on the walkway. As he's facing away from the shuriken, boost the speed and hit in a slightly upward trajectory and his ass is out of there. If you're not too concerned with getting a quick time in the map and just completing it, wait for the sniper to be isolated after taking out the armored punk, pull off a silent takedown, then find another goon patrolling walkways and take him out quietly as well. You should have a few openings and you'll have fewer enemies to worry about flanking you.

The smoke pellet is extremely versatile. It can be used to hide yourself and escape a nasty situation, to keep thugs disoriented, and even to throw off attention in a different direction. Especially useful if there are several henchmen wearing goggles. They'll naturally scan the smoke to see through it and just about everyone else will look in its direction too. Extremely handy gadget. Another really fun trick is using remote controlled batarangs to keep thugs looking the wrong way. Between that, the sonic batarang and the smoke bomb, Batman is a master of misdirection.

@@@Hauptseite The games rely too much on contextual/on screen prompts to perform stealth takedowns. I cannot count how many times my character did the counter action instead of the stealth takedown because the two moves shared the same button, despite holding down the right trigger and being behind the enemy. I would have preferred it if the Arkham games copied the MGS games which had a dedicated CQC button. Stealth in those games were much smoother and more natural.

​@@spiidey1 I never have a problem with that. Is that your only issue? Timing is important in these games and if you're countering frequently, it might be because you're misjudging the distance between you and your intended target. My only problem with the contextual commands comes up when trying to interact with an object vs. open a door, or take corner cover vs. hang over railing. These have fairly easy workarounds and Arkham Knight even fixed the issue by assigning a different button for some of them.

@@Hauptseite Another issue I had with the predator challenges is that they required specific takedowns, which can sometimes be difficult to do because of the randomness of the AI. The combat challenges were quite fun when I had a good rhythm going, but the lack of a dedicated lockon also gave me a headache. I've since 100% Arkham City and I just hope that I have a better time with Arkham Knight when I play it in the future.
