You're not really helping by saying there's more to it than that, and not telling him what that "more is",, ffs. Use strings that are mostly safe on block, or cut out the last button of a string to make sure that it's safe on block, I.e Super used Batman's 1 2 3 string, but cut out the 3 input because the whole string is unsafe, whereas 1 2 is more or less safe on block. Learn characters' wakeups to know how to block when they've been knocked down, idk what else because I'm not the biggest fan of fighting games.
