There is a depth to Danny Elfman's score that is breathtaking. I love Hans Zimmerman's scores but Danny's is top for me. The film caught the reality/fantasy mix that is comics just right for me. Danny's music and Keaton's performance made Batman live for me. :)

I saw the BBC philharmonic playing this last night and it blew me away. It's so powerful and I've loved it since I was a kid watching Burtons Batman and the cartoon series. Nolan's films are, for me, superior in every way to Burtons Batman except when it comes to the music. Danny Elfman kicks Hans Zimmer's arse.

AMAZING! If only Batman begins and The Dark Knight had such strong music....

People should just be glad that there are so many different takes on the material. The fact that the Nolan trilogy exist doesn't take away the Burton films from people. Don't hate.

@vintagevice Batman IS fantasy. Batman himself is just not a realistic concept to begin with, no matter how much you may dream it is. That Tim Burton went overboard with his gothic style doesn't change the fact that this is a story about a man dressed up in a dark theatric Bat-costume to fight crime, is nicknamed The Dark Knight, and fights creepy clowns and Catwomen. Even without Burton, the Batman world has enough gothic elements on it's own. The city is called GOTHam City, not AverigeCity.

@jackJoker89 yer i don't buy bale as bruce, he doesn't sell the whole i'm an outcast and a loner. I love the opening bruce scene in batman returns where he's just sitting there brooding until the signal shines on him *shivers* that's the batman/bruce...

@haibane13 What are you high? Batman 89' is one of the most succesful Batman movies ever made. This film, not Nolan's films, was the one that brought Batman back to life. It layed the foundation for BTAS. This film took Batman out of the campy 60's and brought back the dark gritty Batman. Burton gave us the first mature and serious Batman movie. Before this film, Batman was a happy chum in colorful spandex from a dusty old comicbook, after, he was the dark knight in black armor.
@BarbaraGordonBurnside14 жыл бұрын
@vintagevice What you have without it is a more true Batman incarnation. Look at Arkham Asylum. Look at what Bob Kane did when he created all these characters. Kane made his villains to physically be what the symbolism of their name implies. Taking these things away for realism means you take away the intention with which these characters were designed. The Joker's accident means he's a mad clown inside and outside. What Nolan does may be more realistic, but that doesn't make it better.

Only if Batman has kryptonite, if he does not have that then Superman wins every time. But yeah I do agree Batman is one of the best heroes ever made! My two favorite from DC is Batman and Superman. Two great stories and two great heroes that made the DC franchise what it is today.

@vintagevice Batman The animated series also understood the mythos better then the Nolan films. At least they weren't too shy when it comes to using all of the characters from the mythos instead of acting like realism is more important then anything or anyone. Wouldn't it be nice to see a live-action ManBat, Croc, or Clayface in the films at some point? I think BTAS shows it CAN be done in a serious fashion. Realism is not THAT important as long as the story is dark, gritty, and serious.

@wolfman8796 I am just joking. But I do think Burton's movies will age better than Nolans and can be watched more times without them getting boring. I have watched Burton's 2 Batmans many times and even when I know what will happen they are still interesting.

I'd just like to point out that the name "Gotham City" doesn't come from the word "Gothic". It's an old name for New York that roughly means "goat shed". Gotham was meant to be New York City.

@vintagevice Why don't you skip the first part and go to 3:05 All you 'Christopher Nolan = God' people need to grow up and accept that Batman has existed since 1939, and while BB and TDK are certainly top Bat-films, Nolan's take on the franchise is nothing more then just that. Another take on Batman. Not the first and not the last. Burton's Batman was as big a hit as TDK, so this 'Nolan rocks, now Burton sucks' attitude is stupid. Batman 89' rebooted a dead franchise just like Begins did.

hmm I agree with you in the sense that the acting has become impossible when it comes to "get it real".. but it's not that important. Burton did a good thing in setting the frame but he also went on flicking stuff here and there and did a stupid 2nd film.. really very stupid. but also darker.. so stupid + darker = ??? no fucking idea.. maybe the beggining for the childish dark (stupid) follow films..
