7:44 Just so you know, that was Tim Curry's laugh coming from that animatronic clown. He was originally chosen to voice the Joker, but everyone he thought he was too scary (like a certain other evil clown he previously played).

And honestly, listening to the examples of Tim Curry's Joker he would definitely not have been as good a casting choice as Mark. Don't get me wrong, Tim Curry is a legend and I adore him as an actor and as a voice actor, but he definitely wasn't the right choice for the Joker.

It had nothing to do with being too scary. Tim Curry got bronchitis ahead of his second scheduled recording session, so in order to avoid having to change the whole production schedule, they had Mark Hamill (who had nerded out big time during his recording session for Heart of Ice and left a strong impression) audition to replace him. The "too scary" thing is an urban legend.

I love the creepy aesthetic of the abandoned amusement park. Also Mark Hamill's ability to change his voice between being Jekko and Joker is truly phenomenal. It shows just how incredibly talented he is. Also you'll see how Batman is with kids as you watch through the series. Thanks for another fantastic and hilarious reaction Meg! I'm excited for the next episode!!

This episode is where Mark Hamill's Joker finally got his footing. His appearances before this episode, he was more goofy and didn't have that sinister edge until Be A Clown.

You called it- Joker appeals to the kids better than Batman, when they don't yet understand how dangerous and evil his 'pranks' really are. The idea of Joker taking on a young apprentice was later done better in The Batman animated series. As out of touch as Mayor Hill can be, his relationship with his son is very sweet.

There has been 4 Robins so far or at least 4 in the series and current new movies. (there has been a 5th Robin who was a girl but that if i recall correcft only took place in the series called Batman the dark knight returns) First one was Dick Grayson, who watched his parents die during their acrobatic show in the circus after a gangsters who had tried to extort the circus managaer who refused to bow to his threats. Dick Grayson was then taken in by Batman and quickly discovered his secret and Bruce then started to train Dick Grayson, after some time Dick Grayson and Batman/Bruce did not see eye to eye and Grayson wanted out of Batmans shadow who he felt was still treating him like a little boy and he moved to Blúdhaven and became nightwing who remains an ally to Batman and his batman family. The second Robin was Jason Todd a street thief who lived alone on the streets of Gotham. Jason had a lot of anger inside of him, and he met Batman for the first time when he tried to steal the tires of the batmobile, Batman then put Jason in a school for troubled kids, but quickly became the new Robin afterwards but was later tortured and killed by the joker, unlike Dick Grayson, Jason was impulsive, angry and often reckless which was also what led him to be kidnapped by joker and later died. The third Robin was Tim Drake who actually as a toddler went and saw Dick Grayson and his parents perform at the circus on the evening that they died, Tim was shocked from what he saw a couple of years later, Tim saw footage of Batman and Robin apprehending the Penguin. Robin performed a quadruple somersault, a rare maneuver that only a Flying Grayson could do. After learning Grayson was the ward of Bruce Wayne, he came to the conclusion that Grayson was Robin and that of course Wayne was Batman. Tim continued to follow the adventures of the Dynamic Duo, as well as Grayson's becoming Nightwing and Jason Todd succeeding him as Robin. After Tim and Dick was captured by two-face and during which Tim put on the Robin costume for the first time at the mere age of 13 he quickly became the new apprentice and Robin for batman something Tim thought that Batman needed in his life, he needed his Robin to not feel so alone. The fourth Robin is a bit of question of canon and timeline, but he is mostly accepted now after several movies and even a few game appearances. The fourth Robin is Damian Wayne son of Bruce Wayne and Talia Al Ghul. Damian grew up with his mother and Grandfather Ra's Al Ghul and was trained from birth to be an assassin, at one point Talia and Ra's was attacked and Talia went Damian to live with his father who he had never met before. Bruce allowed Damian to become Robin wanting to try and undo the brainwashing that Talia and Ra's had done to his son, who firmly believed that criminals should just be killed and not just stopped and arrested, this has caused Damian to be Batmans most difficult Robin as Damian at first did not even want to be with his father nor did he wish to live under his/batmans code of not killing the enemy.

I don't know if you'd be interested in going further beyond the Batman Animated series to other WB animated shows like Superman the Animated series Batman Beyond and Justice League shows which were continuations of this series, voice actors like Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill reprising their role's. It was so epic back when these all aired on television, it was the shared universe before the MCU and many ways did it better. I think it would be worth it to see where this series and these characters eventually lead, it was definitely rewarding as a long time fan back then

Another interesting thing is the difference in Joker's voice between this and later iterations also done by Mark. Some people mistakenly think he hadn't 'figured his Joker out yet' as of the Animated Series, but that's not the case at all. He actually made a deliberate change in his version for the New Batman Adventures because it was a darker take on the Joker and he wanted a darker voice for him while still having it recognizable as the same character. Then in the Arkham games he used his darkest version of the character's voice as seen in the Justice League show. I did notice that in the Arkham games he was more limited in his laughs, likely because he's getting old and can't bust out the laughs like he used to. And while I love all of Hamill's Joker performances, I actually like his lighter-voiced first version the best, because it emphasizes his creepy drop in tone when his mood shifts.

So since you commented on batman strength, I wanna share a bit of canonical information about batman strength, atleast according to the comics, movies and shows all have their own limits for him. But in the comics batman can benchpress 1000 pounds, leg press 2500, can run a mile in just under 5 minutes casually and has pushed himself to short sprints of 40-50 miles per hour and has been able to run and fight for over 24 hours straight, has the mobility and flexibilityof an olympic level gymnist, and has been able to punch through solid stone, brick and even steel in some cases. Batman is literally Olympic level at everything, and they even had a book about a bunch of batman facts that included his workout regiment, which is basically a bunch of endurance, strength and combat exercises every day for like 3 hours
@mike-mz6yz
@mike-mz6yz Жыл бұрын
okay sprinting 40+ miles per hour is just ridiculous. I mean I get it is comics and all his stats are pretty crazy but thats the only one that seems so outside of whats humanly possible. The fastest person ever could sprint around 27 mph and they trained only for sprinting. People do a bench press of 1000 lbs and leg press close to 2500 lbs so that is at least somewhat believable.
@Fatalbeast22
@Fatalbeast22 Жыл бұрын
@@mike-mz6yz thing is, 1000 bench press and 2500 leg press is the strongest men in the world's records, that's batman normal workout, like daily afternoon workout.
@mike-mz6yz
@mike-mz6yz Жыл бұрын
@@Fatalbeast22 oh I get that its a crazy number still, but its at least almost plausible that a guy at peak human condition could do that. When the fastest person can only get half way to batmans sprint speed thats a different story. Like if he benched 1700lb it would be comparable to his sprint speed.
