Please note: there are some "filler" cues that I did transcribe, but I did not include them in the final video. I did this mainly due to time and conciseness in addition to "fair use" considerations (the copyright bot already had a field day with this one). Thanks!

5:11 - 6:11 Once you've seen and heard this part, it's with you forever. Her take on Harvey didn't need a scarred face to be terrifying.

Thank you for doing this! Shirley Walker's BTAS work is criminally unappreciated, and this is one of the best of her scores. Another one of my favorites is the Scarface episode "Read My Lips", which contains, in Bruce Timm's words, a "Jazz Fight".

I love the music of Batman the Animated Series, I have 2 seasons on DVD, Shirley Walker is very underrated, if she were still alive I would hire her to score my first movie.

Extraordinary. It’s like hearing and reading a book from my childhood but now with a greater understanding. Thank you David

I too would like to thank you for making this video. I stumbled across your channel while looking for the Batman Returns soundtrack, and I’m so glad I did. Batman the Animated Series is probably my favourite TV show, and a big reason for that is Shirley Walker’s music. I will be watching your On Leather Wings video next! If I could make a request - please analyse the music from Feat of Clay. I think that part two has some of Shirley’s best work in it. Finally, I love the fact that this video is 22 minutes long. Very fitting!!!

Wonderful analysis of a marvelous, important score by the great Shirley Walker. I just wanted to point out something, however: Shirley employed a (Soprano) Recorder for Harvey's/Two Face's theme, instead of a piccolo, although piccolo is indeed a very close match, timber-wise, in how it sounds.

Holy cow, it's Carlos Rodriguez. Your Robin's Reckoning score in particular still hits me like a truck... thanks for all the hard work you guys put into these shows and not musically talking down to us just because we were kids. Much love!

@@psychokitty444 THANK YOU so much for your kind regards! Indeed, my fellow Bat-Composers and I approached the scoring of each BTAS episode with the utmost seriousness, as inspired and mentored by Shirley Walker, whose no-nonsense, superlative orchestral stylistic choices established the unique sound of the show. It's very gratifying that my Robin's Reckoning (Part !) moves you so deeply: I even shed tears while composing it, particularly the scene depicting the death of Dick Grayson's parents. My intention was always to support the intense emotional content of the scene and I'm glad that my contributions made a difference, as BTAS has gone on to enjoy such widespread popularity. Thank You for listening so closely!

I came across your channel listening to different scores and covers for Batman themes. Landed in a gem with your channel! I hope in the near future you do reduction or some analysis on the new "The Batman" film music by Michael Giacchino 👏

Can you please do the tank sequence from _Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade?_ It’s my favourite scene in the entire franchise, and I’d love to see what John Williams audibly has in store for us, if that makes sense.

Any idea what’s making that clacking/snapping sound effects in the background at 0:27-0:36? Almost sounds like a bunch of people tapping their bows against the wooden part of the violin, but I’m not sure
@JakeSandersonMusic3 жыл бұрын
It’s a technique for string instruments called “Col Legno”, which means the string players are asked to tap the strings with the back (the wood part) of their bows to create a percussive-like sound.

With Space Jam: A New Legacy coming out, I was wondering if by any chance, could you do some score reduction analyses for James Newton Howard's original Space Jam 1996 score? JNH captured the Carl Stalling musical style of the classic WB cartoons while also providing some 90s modernization too.

I'm sorry to say this, and I probably shouldn't, but while there are some nice and interesting things here, it's mostly pedestrian, the music just lacks something, a certain je ne sais quoi, (well, actually, I can name a few things, the music is just too rigid, to me it's reminiscent of a young, beginning composer, and she has difficulty writing a decent melody that grabs your interest(she's like me in that regard), and the development of her themes leaves one wanting), that spark of genius that's so inherent in Danny Elfman's music. But, I will thank Shirley Walker for being a great conductor, for overseeing the music of one of the greatest cartoon series of all time, and say, may God rest her soul.
