I was just thinking of the switch when you mentioned the design change. I have one that I bought years ago and the switch was a problem for me. It was a really good looking light but it would switch on in my pocket so I stopped using it and went with twist design small lights. I might have to revisit this light.

Hands down my favorite EDC Flashlight. I have to go on their website and see if I could get the fighter light individually since I already have a couple of the charging cases already. Another great video Doc

I've just bought both the Titanium and Fighter Pilot versions. One of them I am going to give to my daughter for Christmas and I am keeping one but I am going to make her choose. How to be a great father and bad one at the same time lol.

Just picked up the Ti version. They advertise the Ti as 1300, was there an early version? Not sure why the Ti edition would have a more limited output?

heat dissipation? Thermal conduction of Alu is better

@bamboelaa All of the current baton 4s are listed as 1300 lumens from what I can tell so I'm not sure if that was just an error?

Are the batteries easily replaceable? Judging by the size, I'm guessing if so it's an RCR123/16340. I love Olight but I've had a few proprietary rechargable flashlights get trashed after their batteries dropped off a few years later. Serviceable battery replacement (without soldering, preferably) is hugely important to me. Quick edit: i was speaking in the context of the flashlight itself but bonus points if there's info on the case battery!

I’ve tried to get into brands like OLight, but just cant get into proprietary systems. I use “old school” Malkoff (Made in USA) that uses standard Li-ion batteries that I charge outside. For headlamps, I like Coast. Great UI, and can charge the 18650 3 ways: through the body with USB-C, on the battery itself with USB-C, or just pop it in a regular charger. It’s all about standard Li-Ion battery sizes and USB-C for me.
@jamesmin2837Ай бұрын
There is a pro and con to everything. If I am away from home, then I would absolutely want a USB-C. Makes life so much easier to have single cable, and/or redundancy, when you are out. But for around the house, I prefer MCC. It much easier to plop a flight light onto a magnetic charger, than to worry about small flaps that cover the ports. Especially on low capacity battery lights such as this that require frequent recharging, it's perfect. With regards to proprietary batteries, it's mainly an issue for "normal" people that might have one or two flashlights at the most, and are using it until the batteries are killed and need replacing. For many of us with 20+ flashlights, the batteries almost never die and do not need replacing. Just speaking for myself, I still have Olight X7 and bunch of Thrunites from 5-8 years ago. Still holds charges great, because I am cycling through so many lights that one light does not get charged & discharged that often. It's like owning a fleet of cars like Jay Leno, most of them are just parked.

Are the Baton 4's backward compatible to the "old" charging case?

Does the titanium version have a longer runtime on high since the output is lower?
@lastbesttoolАй бұрын
I think they are the same because they both quickly throttle down to the same level. One just starts higher.
@jonathanklein7875Ай бұрын
@lastbesttool yeah, it probably doesn't make much difference. I just figured that since they throttle the turbo due to the poorer heat conductivity of titanium, the LED is being fed less power, resulting in more runtime. But if they drop down quickly, the difference probably isn't appreciable.
@lastbesttoolАй бұрын
I recall the instructions having the same runtime but listing the different turbo numbers.

I really want and love the design of the fighter pilot but why does titanium always grab my money and attention 🤦♂️🤷♂️ it’s just clean and purdy lol this will be a great system to keep in the glove box which is what I’ve been looking for and will have a back up phone or accessory charger for emergencies is huge. Never know if your phone’s almost dead and your car dies or whatever.

The fighter looks good but nowhere near the copper dimacus premium. that version is almost 4x the price of any other Baton mind..
@miketye2805Ай бұрын
@ that sounds pretty cool! I would pick the Titanium one just cause it’s so clean looking. What’s that copper one you’re talking about? Was it a past release? I did grab the copper skull Arkfeld that’s pretty sick and the copper Oclip to match it.

Hey Doc. I LOVE YOU VIDEOS. Could you please let us know when you are showcasing tools you purchased yourself vs tools companies sent you. I'm assuming O Light sent you some of these.
@lastbesttoolАй бұрын
Hello. Olight sent me the lights featured here along with other stuff. I only make videos about the stuff I want to make videos about. The rest is either background noise or nonissues. I also want to give my videos a longer shelf life so I don't spend much if any time discussing a sale or prices. Just features, function and my thoughts. Obviously Olight sends out gear to many influencers and it's fun on my end to see what others do with it. But in the end, I just enjoy working with the latest and greatest. I have bought lights from Olight that I wanted to present but did not receive, and some lights and gear I specifically request. Some viewers equate honesty of review with price of admission. I just skip things that don't interest me, are of little value, or don't have any unique features. And sometimes I pay less than retail, or won't be keeping the item which further muddies the water for those who want a binary free-or-not influencer equation. Further, I like to show comparables and non-standard uses even if off-brand in order to show a deeper level of the tool than just the on-box advertising. Thanks for watching.
@cafecybernzАй бұрын
@@lastbesttool Thank you for answering @CosminCosyCodes' question. And for always highlighting the negative aspects, if any, of whatever tool you are showing. For me, that shows more 'honesty of review' than getting the gear for free or not.

I've had a Perun mini for ~4 years now, haven't lost it yet! The pocket clip really does a great job of holding it in, and if you really were scared of losing it you could always get an airtag/tile tracker and attach it to the lanyard hole, although depending on how you do that, you might have to remove it every time you charge it.
