This has to be one of the longest games in recent memory-TvT is good at that :P I do recall on TLnet attack, when Dreiven played offrace TvT for like a 90 minute game! This was much more exciting, however :D

That was one of the most entertaining (but not really best) games I've ever seen. I agree with Klazart that Flash actually would've deserved the win more in the end because Upmagic used his BCs so badly. But Wraiths proved to be TvTs MVP:)

Oh, and by the way, valkyries were never supposed to be effective against battle cruisers. The original intent for air in Brood War (and you can see this in the way computers build) was small > medium > large > small. That is, valks, scourge, and sairs own wraiths, mutas, and scouts; wraiths (because of splash, 2HKOs), mutas, and scouts own bcs, devs, and carriers (because of high dps), and bcs, devs, and carriers own valks, sairs, and scourge (because of high armor and hp). 3 armor >> 6 dmg.

I'm surprised Flash didn't use his BCs to pick off gols with Yamato near the end. If he had just cut down on the goliath count, he would have held for a bit longer.

I don't think Flash was ever ahead in this game; at least not nearly as much as Cholera and Klazart made him out to be. Flash never once in the entire game had an economic lead, and near the end when he was destroying UpMagic's starports, he was almost 4k minerals behind. That's FORTY goliaths. That's as many as four tens. And that's terrifying. Besides, Flash spent so much money on BCs and valks, he had essentially no tanks to defend or stop UpMagic's mining, which wound up losing the game.

Sports commentary has a long history of using short-hand, colloquial terms because the commentators understand that they share a common language with their target audience. I gotta disagree with Klazart as well, Upmagic kept a great contain on flash for such a long time and keeping that mineral gathering going. He deserved the win, despite Flash's valiant attack with the BC's, the goliath's were the *savior* force against the BC's!

After flash raided Upmagic's main base, he should have gone on to take out the middle immediately - he would have come across 4 of the 6 factories in the process, and he would have won. Or he could have taken out all the supply depots and probably won that way. Too bad.

According to Blizzard's "Air Balance Model," "supporting air units" (sair, valk, dev, which I called small) beat "Tactical units" (scout, wraith, muta, which I called medium) of other species. They are support units, so you can't win the game with them. The capital ships (BCs and carriers, but oddly not guardians which don't shoot up; muta-dev combinations need to suffice) pwn support units.
