I think that standing ovation was more of a point that they hate Trudeau more than Freeland. I read an article recently (during the summer’s Freeland vs carney gossip) that Freeland plays nice, overly cordial and kindergarten sweet but that it’s a front for her cunningness and vindictiveness and that if she did get turfed, she’d not go out out quietly. Her reputation preceded her and I doubt she had many genuine fans, they just hated Trudeau more at that point. Come next week, she’ll not be anyone’s hero, they’ll be focused on Trudeau hate again.
