Great job Adrian I suppose you were lucky, it could have been worse. Wee tip for you in the skylights if you do not already do it is to cut a widths of corrugated tin about 4-5 inches wide and nail them down over the top of the joints of your transparent roof sheets. It acts like a big washer and will hold the transparent roof sheet down a bit better. It still the weakest point on the roof and will give out before the roof will. 👍
@ukstd117 сағат бұрын
Do you mean over the bottom of the transparent sheet where it sits on top of the tin ? Thanks
@FlyingFergyMan16 сағат бұрын
Yes but more over the centre of the sheet where the timber purlin is below it. Stops the wind pressure from below lifting the sheet and ripping it through the nail fixings.👍

Hey Nicole, don't tell your father but if you reverse the calf and push them along when it don't want to walk forward it's helps a lot, there little hoofs can't stop you reversing them 😂

The 8×4 big square bales great to have during wind - block up any openings, protect any weak structures and layed across on any exposed roofs to hold them down.

You were the first person I thought of when I knew this storm was heading for us and when you didn’t post Sunday I knew you must have been lashed out of it; I’m relieved it was structural damage and no injuries to life or limb of you, your family or animals 👍. Fair play to your Sister for giving you a hand lashing down the buildings; sure Cavan women are a special breed 😀. In Dublin I lost the roofing off me garden shed and our huge glass & steel table slid up the deck and overturned! 😂

Very relieved you and the family made it through the weather in one piece. Shame about the calving pen wall, but then again, it needed the work anyway - just Mother Nature decided to set the timing for you this time. Looking forward to the next (few?) videos!
@FirstnameLastname-qe3ry17 сағат бұрын
great video Adrian as always. Our farm took a battering. the south wind took the entire roof off an older shed we use to calve cows. the whole thing gone, blew away to the top hill, piece of timber put a kitchen window in in the farm 2 story, and tin sheet flew across and struck a cow just in front of its shoulder, nothing very serious but she was quite sore. the ESB poles on our lane weren't the greatest and 3 decided to have a lay down which caused no electric until yesterday, Tuesday branches and debris all around the place and around 12 trees fell, 4 on laneways, entrances etc, rest in the fields. a wall collapsed on an old derelict house which we were supposed to fix up this number of years and i guess that's our call to do that. i guess on a good note, a large chunk of ivy on another derelict house blew off so that's handy, thanks Eowyn. being a beef and (to the much of my despise) sheep farm, the loss of electric didn't affect us too much, the water isn't ran of electric so it was ok, and tractors have lights. luckily the granny, who lives in the 2 story went to the uncle in the town so she was safe, not happy about the window she cleans every chance she gets!
