I know I was taken there by my parents but sadly I dont remember much about it, apart from the Water Chute and the Tree Walk

1974 was the last year for the funfair, two years following the Big Dipper accident which killed five children.

A few of those rides ended up at Dreamland in Margate after Battersea closed for good. The water chute, the Rotor and possibly the Cyclone. It’s a shame London doesn’t have its own amusement park anymore, but I guess times change.

I just don't see how Battersea Funfair could decline like that after the Big Dipper crash in 1972, after all, they replaced it with that Pinfari Roller Coaster called Cyclone....

After the fatal accident and the closure of the big dipper, the funfair lost a lot of custom and closed in the year this was filmed, 1974

A shame this fun fair doesn't exist anymore, despite the horrible accident. There's always a risk of accidents. Was it there 24/7 ? The only local fun fair where I live is Hull Fair for a week in October. This was the setting for the title sequence of Journey to the Unknown. It's theme tune was frightening. What is in its place on the site now?
@Faulty7203 жыл бұрын
Was a permanent funfair yes. And nothing really now. I believe the location runs along the edge of Battersea Park and the river. Its hard to find out the exact location. Battersea park is still a very nice and 'hidden gem' location. Just a shame the fun fair couldn't survive
