A special thanks to Richard Lee aka Leefist martial arts on KZbin for marking it possible for me to test this blade !!

I like videos like these, tired of watching 'pros' cut stuff, it's helpful to see someone who's not experienced with knives use them, more realistic, thanks, good video

Great video! And it looks to me that the subhilt on the Espada needs to be rounded off a bit more as to where you place the index & middle finger. It tends to widen the fingers out too much when you grab it there making feel a little uncomfortable. And that just me handling it. I didn't put it to the test like you guys did! But to me, it looks like an easy fix...

Well for bamboo cutting like your trying to do. You cut on an ANGLE, you will find it works easier.

Definitely right. I wouldnt wanna scratch my finger while defending mine or my family's life.

I prefer weapons that don’t hurt the person using it but it’s not a big deal but it’s worth noting and that’s why people watch these videos 😉

That finger wound from espada is because inside edge of g10 liners is sharp, you can solve this with a medium-fine sand paper on both sides on all lenght !

I used to watch your vids when I was a kid. Oh how the time flies. Btw, is the camera man still your brother? What’s his KZbin channel? I need this nostalgia!
@Hissatsu53 жыл бұрын
I am glad enjoyed the channel yes my brother is still my cameraman we schedule for filming projects his channel is Mathew Culbertson he isn’t hugely active on it but he occasionally post videos on it. I think his most recent video is on his new serrations he’s been putting on his knives

I am glad you enjoyed the video . Me and my brother film videos that we refer to as battle blades comparing tactical or fighting blades

Great stuff guys. What do you think would get through the first larger bamboo piece then? A little more mass in the blade, a little more velocity?
@Hissatsu54 жыл бұрын
I think a longer blade would help I would like to try my dragonfly wakizashi

Hi @Hissatsu5 I just got my XL espada and was wondering if your knife has any blade play when you use a hammer grip or any grip that puts pressure on the spine of the lockbar? I actually returned my first xl espada because of this but when receiving my second xl espada, it has the same issue. I already contacted cold steel, bladeforums, I think I watched all youtube videos that involve the XL Espada and nobody has said anything.
@Hissatsu53 жыл бұрын
That sucks I can’t say I notice that problem in mine I would grab mine with a death grip to check but I am out of town . The only advice I can give right now is to try tightening the pivot or exchange it again
@NotTodayJezus3 жыл бұрын
@@Hissatsu5 I already polished some parts of the knife and has signed of wear so not sure if I can exchange it again. What knifecenter said is that they cannot open video files from customers (my evidence) and if it has blade play its because its a "big blade"🤦♂️ Anyways I appreciate the reply. I guess I'll just keep the blade open until it makes a difference. The lockup is rock solid in the extended pistol grip though. Ill just edc my xl serrated vaquero for now. Fun video! I underestimated the hisshou..

My G10 AUS 10A Espada XL does the same thing and it's a non-issue in my opinion.
@NotTodayJezus3 жыл бұрын
@@flugel6856 in terms of usability its fine and its rock solid in the extended grip. Its just weird having to remind yourself constantly not to use the knife in a normal knife grip where the jimping is. I really liked this knife.
@flugel68563 жыл бұрын
@@NotTodayJezus I understand what you're saying. I plan to fix it myself, when I look closely at the Lock bar it slightly sticks up above the rest of the handle so I'm going to take off the lock bar and sand off a few thousandths of an inch till it's even with the rest of the handle. If I successfully get rid of the issue I'll give you an update.

Nice video. Will need to investigate how the hisshou conceal carries. 18" long!
@Hissatsu54 жыл бұрын
It’s a shoulder rig but your limited in your fashion to a tshirt with a button up shirt over it . I will have to try it but the espada , Bowie knife and your tomahawks are more convenient
@wingardwearables4 жыл бұрын
@@Hissatsu5 Agree, but I get a lot of inquiries on shoulder carry as an option. I will have to check out what's out there and see if my own products can adapt to that--just another way to carry them

I really like that hisshou, it's on the list. I EDC my Espada if I'm going out in public. I jusy got the Spyderco Bark River little cheapy, it's ok, by was pretty poorly ground in the spine, but the edge is fine, and the flat grind is perfect so. It's still a decent little slicer tho.
