The National Museum of the United States Army presents its latest “Battle Brief,” a look at the hard-fought Battle of the Wilderness in early May 1864, the first face-off between Grant and Lee in war-torn Virginia. Join Museum staff member John Maass for a virtual tour of the battlefield and an in-depth look at the bloody Wilderness Campaign in the tangled forests just west of Fredericksburg. This is one of the most comprehensive descriptions of the Wilderness Battle that I have heard. Thank you so very much. I feel fortunate to have found this video. I think Dr. John Maasss should think about a series for both the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. I have several ancestors in both wars, and I appreciated this overview. One of my ancestors fought under Ewell in Doles' Brigade and was killed on May 5. He was only 22. From descriptions, I believe he was involved in the fight to shore up the break in the line, and he was shot as they were revitalizing and reformed the line against Warren.

Nice description. Perhaps you might be able to help me a little. My GGF was in the 57th NY (II Corp/1st division, 3rd brigade). He was in company K but I heard that company K was reassigned to a barn nearby. Can you confirm that? More details?
