Being the first game I ever played, this will always be nostalgic to me. Nostalgia aside, this game can be both challenging or simple, unlike the movie game's difficulty spike. It turns the beloved cartoon into a platforming masterpiece. I myself am not a big platforming fan, due to it barely having a story and gives off a bit of an empty feeling. (at least for me) Where as Sonic 2 makes this concept sink in the water of the chemical plant, this game blows that out of the water. Almost like Team Fortress 2, this game satirizes the genre while yet having a very fluent and well made gameplay experience. As this video also demonstrates, this game has an amazing soundtrack, met with equally memorable bosses like Pron and the Patrick robot. While I as well as many others believe spongebob is failing, some like Msteriousmrenter believe that season 9 is a sign its getting back on track. if it does, I will call it the simpsons of kids shows. Even if it doesn't I will still remember this game till the gaming industry dies.

How did this game turn out so good? It had all the reasons in the world to be bad. Firstly, it was based on a television show. And the games based on a show are usually pretty bad. Especially games based on t.v shows for kids. But the movie game had even more reasons to suck and it doesn't. At least games based on a t.v show have all thew time they nee to be made. But a movie based game has a set time limit n which it has to be made. Also the movie had to be made around a story created for a movie. Not a video game. So Heavy Iron Studios was limited to the stages they had to create. So the movie game was a bit rushed, limited in terms of level design and creativity overall and it was based on a movie. All the bad elements were there but the game still turned out good. How is that possible?

Heavy Iron Studios are huge Spongebob Fans. They wanted to make a game that was targeted at everyone and they made all their Spongebob Games stay true to their source material. Unlike Activision, they make Spongebob games targeted solely at kids and they do it to make a quick buck. Activision shouldn't be allowed to hold the Spongebob license anymore. Guys, THQ is going bankrupt, so they will most likely not make a sequel, unless they're going for broke, but, considering how the newer episodes are awful, and how the first game is underrated, there aren't many ways to influence people to buy it, so it will just come and go if they do make a sequel

I don't think the sequel is going to be as good as this one. It came out Oct. 13 this year I think. I havn't seen much of the game but I bet this one would still be better than the new one.
