How did they get those big ships to that part of the Great Lakes? You couldn't get a ship up past Niagara Falls and there was no canal to get around it yet in 1812. Nor could you get them up the narrow creeks between the Ottowa River and Georgian Bay that the French took in earlier days.

If Holmes did it go to the left flank and be attacked by the Indians, then he could have survived the battle. Holmes was only twenty years old! So sad that war happens.
