You’re a young, strapping volunteer from Minnesota, returning home to your town and it’s jubilant crowds awaiting you with a welcome befitting a hero. Your regiment was the 1st Minnesota, which served faithfully and with great honor within the Union Army. At Gettysburg, your regiment was sent alone to hold off an entire Confederate advance, in the hopes of buying time to keep the Union Fishhook in tact. You and your brethren charged into the rebels with incredible force, catching the enemy off guard and driving their entire advance back. As a result of your regiment’s bravery, they suffered the highest casualty rate of any Union regiment within a single day, throughout the entire war. 82 percent of your beloved regiment and brethren were strewn across the field they fought so hard to keep ahold of in the name of the Union. You will never forget their bravery.

POV: You were once a healthy young 23 year old private that enlisted the middle of the war for some adventure. Now you’re withering away in Andersonville, underfed with your body just being bones. You have nowhere to sleep, no means of shelter, packed in like sardines. As you slowly start dying this song echoes in your mind, as you wonder what you’re doing so far from home

Picture this a riot of people and the crowd starts singing battle hymn of the republic i think the government would be scared if people started revolting and taking our country back from people who want to get rid of america and what it stood for Life liberty and the pursuit of happienss

It would be some beautifully poetic irony. People violently taking over would be annihilating the core of democracy and peaceful transition of power. The day such a revolution succeeds is the day the United States of America dies.
