Try Mirko. Can't deny his smoothness.

From the bottom of my heart and dance shoes I thank you for posting this. The modern scene is so much more frenetic now, still beautiful of course but the unadulterated, no, "uncomplicated" style shown here is sublime.

Sometimes i feel there is a little bit too much attention for the past. *But* there is a reason we call these Giants. Terrific dancing imo..!!!! So thank you for sharing once again.

The music was 2 minutes and 20 seconds long… and normally just 1 minute 30 or 45 seconds. That’s quite a long time stamina wise and maintain such high level of dancing. It helps that they danced so light.

Much as I'm not a fan of Sinkinson I think he did the best Waltz - more fluid, dynamic, and ahead of its time (i.e. that's how amateurs dance today)
Arunas a katusha, mirko should also be in this video

Though of course epic dancers, but that is another era. They were Youth at that time, if they were dancing in the first place

No battle. The BEAUTY of the Waltz is Marcus and Karen. They are on time with the music, and express the music beautifully. It is bewildering for the mind to see Wood behind the music. The steps are supposed to be IN the music. The music must be IN the movement. "Dance is the music in the movement." (Bill Irvine) Marcus and Karen have beautiful technique, and elevation is excellent. To me, Sinkinsen is a bit stiff in comparison. The unique couple is Marcus and Karen. I love to watch them.

Yes in this comp the best waltz goes to Marcus and Karen. I agree with what you said about John’s timing seems to be a bit late, especially at the beginning. And Sinkinson does seem a bit stiff. But I would probably call it the “youthful hard edges and power” :) the dance is not as refined and polished like stones on the seashore, which Marcus/Karen’s dancing is a lot more refined.

These two exceptional champions are to be emulated in as many ways as possible. Videos are not always a direct revision of the action esp the audio to vid mix. IMHO ..john and Anne are in time and delaying the lowering action to its max, comm to rise eo 1, cont to ris 2 AND 3 lower at THE END OF 3. We should try to enjoy, not be armchair critics, otherwise we could point out John And Annes perfect body connection and lead and follow compared to Marcus and Karens constant gapping. And lets be sure that Marcus and Karen are spectacular champions for sure but competition judging is a judgmental personal opinion task based on learned principles , there is but a whisker between the two couples on this night. I thoroughly enjoy Simons vids and appreciate the blast from the past,thank you.

I agree with you that John is here balancing with music on the edge, sometimes in quite a dangerous way, I think that he does not just reflect the music he hears but also adds something to it being like some additional mysical instrument in it. He creates music, not just reflects being in it
@pauldalkie83663 жыл бұрын
@@ctherats6023 I agree with you. John Wood gets such amazing compression on the first beat that enables him to get more out of every 3/4 bar of music. It looks languid, but it is not. He is an absolute master.
@lanerope44823 жыл бұрын
@@ctherats6023 . Agreed . The control of the compression to deliver the power on the accented beat is completely in time with the music. It’s more languid and softens the movement without loss of power. I miss the clarity of these couples. These girls though: Barry, Lewis/Gleave and Hilton are bloody sensational. To allow these men such notoriety, while generally moving backward!!!!
