Saturdays battle at Hubbardton this month from a Light Infantry and Battalion Soldier's Point of View

His Majesty's Tenth Regiment of Foot in America is a historically re-created infantry unit formed to portray the service of the British Army during the American War for Independence.
Composed of three types of soldier, Grenadiers-typically larger men who are used as shock troops, a company of Light infantry, generally smaller, more agile men--capable of maneuvering in the dense wilderness to skirmish or flank the enemy, and a battalion company--a company of regular soldiers, capable of mass volleys and were the heart of the army and are trained in both Grenadier and Light Infantry tactics. We also have a company of Music, who provide music and commands to the army. Last but certainly not least, a Corps of Civilian Volunteers--who provide food to the regiment during encampments and accurately portray civilian and camp life of the 18th century. Each is open for recruitment. The members of the Tenth are accurately uniformed, equipped, and trained in 18th-century military drill and life so that we appear in public as members of the British Army would have in 1775. Hi there, the camera is embedded in the caps/helmets of our soldiers in this video! It is under the brim of the battalion soldier and through a cut hole in the Light Infantry soldiers helmet. Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

So, watched it I did. As a reenactor of other periods with a strong interest in this one, I’d still ask why more hits are not taken? Why can’t the dead be reconstituted? With even that amount of fire guys should be dripping like flys. The video looks pretty good. I thought for a minute the guy was yelling “lock and load” but I’m guessing not. Anyway, thanks for your work.

Hi there, taking casualties is a constant debate in the hobby. We are putting more weight on the tactical demonstration aspect as opposed to the theatrical aspect, thus we don’t implement mandatory hits. Thus soldiers can take hits as they see fit (in the shade/towards the end of the battle etc.) Most likely the command you heard was “Prime and Load.” Hope that helps and thanks for watching!

@@HM10thFoot I get it. We have a combat system we had used successfully in ww2 and we playing with it for rev war. Don’t know if it would be successful or not. I’m way more into tactical events than public stuff. I think it might get more recruits. Or not. 😜 You guys do a good job.

Hi there, yes! We have heard of the hit systems, and we know it has been experimented with in rev war! If you are interested in some private events, check out our videos titled “A Skirmish near Boston (1775)” and “Winter Warfare (1775).” Both of these were private tactical events where we were able to train our maneuverability! While we weren’t fighting anyone in these specific cases, we hope to do so in future private events such as those!

@@HM10thFoot I will look at them. The system we have is more than the “hit” type which doesn’t work very well. It sounds like it won’t work, but when people actually do it, great success happens. Converting it over though, has been hard. If you wished to send me a pm, I could send you a doc. The input of others is way important. Like I said, I’ve reenacted other time periods for years. I’ve flirted with this one for 30 years. Maybe I’ll get out… I’m just getting old. I had my Bess defarbed and was walking around a show after picking it up… not only were doofuses trying to but it off my shoulder, I realized how heavy it is :-p

Pretty landscape and a lot of grass,...sorry that I expected to see a battle-scene, a reenactment and more of the acting reenactors inspite of the green, green grass of home. Fortunately some few, short acting redcoat-snapshots are seen too.
